how much does he stand to make, though? If they are balking on a few million for Tristan d/t luxury tax I can't imagine them absorbing Bennett's deal. Or would they just be gaining his rights, not having to absorb the contract since he reached a buyout? Thus league minimum?

Bennett is owed $5.8 million... Cavs could claim him with the TPE if they wanted to. I think they only consider it if they think that Tristan will sign the qualifying offer. Bennett + TT's QO is essentially less than what they would've paid Tristan's current offer per year.

I think if Bennett cleared waivers he would go to Toronto or to a team where he actually has a chance to play.

The shit stain at Deadspin you are referring to is Kevin Draper, the guy who wrote this back in December- the article that essentially exposed how Woj gets his info for the army of NBA fans who put him on a white pedestal. It also included for the first time that the NBAs investigation into leaked memos in 2011 that led to Joe Dumars 500k fine was linked to Woj. And Draper did contact Woj for a response but naturally was ignored. Fact is, though, you wouldn't know shit about Woj and his sources if it wasn't for this particular shit stain at Deadspin.
