Assistant coaches finalized

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Assistant coaches?

As far as I know this guy has shown no interest in coaching, but damn it if I still wouldn't love to see the Cavs pursue Gary Payton for one of the assistant positions. Dude was probably the most complete PG ever to play the game and was tough as nails. He would teach all of our young players what it takes to be a successful, professional athlete... and he wouldn't take shit or attitude or laziness from ANYBODY. Since he's one of the best to ever play (and has a ring), you know he would probably be the best mentor we could hope to have for both Kyrie and Dion. Chances of it happening, though, are about as close to zero as you can get.

Re: Assistant coaches?

Would think Anthony Parker has a good shot to be on the staff.

Seems like they want a young up & comer (Price, Lue have been linked) & an experienced guy (Gentry & Del Negro were also linked) on staff as well.

I'd have to imagine they'd keep at least 1 or 2 around from Brown's staff, even if just for continuity purposes & keeping 1 guy around who knows these guys.

Price isn't exactly young. What has Parker been doing since he retired?

Should've clarified, I meant "young" as in relatively new to the coaching ranks...

Re: Assistant coaches?

Gary Payton
Del Negro
Igor
Mosley
One of Blatts former assistants

Re: Assistant coaches?

They're going to want one ex-NBA coach on the staff that has experience.

Re: Assistant coaches?

Oddly enough Mike Brown would have been a great fit as an assistant had we not hired him and then fired him for the second time.

I'd like to see them bring in Brian Scalabrine as maybe the 3rd assistant. He was good in GS from what I've heard.

Re: Assistant coaches?

I saw it somewhere saying if Canton Charger cant find any coaches , they will send Mosley down and be a HC for canton
that being say i hope he sticks around with the team as well as igor

Re: Assistant coaches?

This was posted in the Blatt Safari, seems appropriate to re-post it here.

Apparently Dan Shamir a young and very appreciated Israeli coach will be one of Blatt assistants , said it's almost a done deal.
Last year he was assistant coach of Ettore Messina in CSKA Moscow .Very brilliant guy,in Israel sometimes nicknamed the laptop coach because he is very organised and loves to use statistics.

I get moist thinking about what Price could do with Wiggins jumper.
