At The Quarter Turn

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If we are worried about innings limits for our #4 and #5 starters, what do you think the limit is on Rodon, who has already thrown as many innings as he has in the last two combined?

Or Kopech, who didn't throw a single inning in the last two years?

And do you truly expect them both, plus Cease, to pitch at a level so inconsistent with their track records over the course of 162 games?

If Chicago's rotation stays healthy for the entire season and continues to do so just as impressively, they will win the division. There is nothing we can do about it. But its a long way to October, and things tend to even out.

If you want a hint at what happens if that rotation does not stay intact, take a look at their AAA rotation.

At the quarter turn...........we definitely need a SP and a 1B/RF/DH. I hope Reyes' injury doesn't land him on the 60-day.

Cherny, if you read this just call Colorado already, and then let us know what they want for Gray and Cron or Marquez and Cron. We'll let you know if you should pull the trigger.
I agree that Jon Gray is a solid pitcher. But the rancid stench permeating from the performance of Hentges, Logan Allen and Tristan shouldn't temper the thought that these spots can't still be filled internally. Anybody that watched Mejia and his utter domination in his ml debut, must not have been paying attention. I haven't seen as dominant of a 2 seem fastball since Fausto Carmona's rookie season. Not only could they not hit it, they were missing it by a half a foot. Kirk McCarty , the Cllippers opening day starter has been excellent. He is averaging 8 innings per start, 3-0, with an ERA of 2.66. He has a WHIP of .84. How many major league starters can boast of having a sub 1 WHIP? And despite the nonsense spoken by a certain poster, McCarty has excellent swing and miss stuff striking out 269 batters in 258 career innings.

And the Indians have always had high hopes for Eli Morgan. He, just like Scott Moss, got hit with the injury bug and both missed more than a month. Morgan was lousy in his return start shaking off the rust. But 3 days ago he went 6 shutout innings allowing just 2 base bits. And the possibility also exists that Quantril could return as a starter.

I say no to hitting the panic button regarding numbers 4 and 5.

We aren't hitting the panic button if we acquire another SP, since it's likely a rental/maybe a player with a second year at most for this season... I kind of wish we brought in Kazmir or someone like that this off-season..

I think if they could solidify 1 rotation spot then there is more than enough quality depth to fill the 5th spot and cover a minor injury or 2. We're scrambling now to fill 2 rotation spots. I don't think it would be wise to plan on finishing the season out under that circumstance with a bunch of guys on limited innings.

I and most others share your excitement for Mejia. I was excited about him long before the season started actually. He performed superbly in his 1st appearance, but it was his first appearance. I'm not quite ready to throw the fate of this season on his back.
