Bowl Projections

They're already hittin' us with who is going to go where.....

personally, bowls don't mean jack in this system. They're now worthless. TV ratings will tell you that. Remember when you would actually sit and watch the freakin' Bluebonnet Bowl ??? Now, people are just totally disappointed and burnt out on this system. There's like 30+ meaningless bowls and the National Championship game often doesn't have the two best teams.

Old farts ....... two words

F****** playoffs !!!!!

Do you know who should decide on playoffs.

The players. After all, they still are students. Still need to study for test, do homework, pass exams etc..

If you were to ask the majority of those kids, I bet 75% - 85% would want to settle it on the field of play.

If that was the case, Division 2, Division 1AA and Division 3 wouldn't have playoffs. Last time I checked, they were students too ......

id say it was 50\50
Seniors wouldnt want to risk getting injured before the draft.

dont go runing college football for no god damn reason

its the last perfect sport we have in this country

leave it alone and leave the bowls... we have had bowls games for a long ass time so why do we need to go changing things now????

and I say that now as a fan of a team that cant even get into a bowl game ... there beat you to the joke....I am serious I love this game more than anything...I once gave up front row tickets to see my favortie band just to sit and watch OSU play Texas on TV that year when they came to Columbus... it would just kill me to see them change it

I love the sport and i would hate to see us go to a playoff system and ruin the purity of the game... plus the fact that it would take away the importance of every single week being a life or death situation... this is college football not the NFL... just leave it alone

and no championship game in the big ten either!!!

A sport with no legit way of determining a champ has a major flaw. College football is unique in the way it "determines" its champ, but "unique" is not synonymous with "better".

which is why the Big 10 is a joke and will continue to be a 2nd tier conference.

And sport that determines a champion with that system is far from perfect......

USC defeats Alabama in 1978 straight up during the season and split the national title with Alabama when both squads have one loss and SC more wins??? Can't be perfect when there's two champions in the sport.

USC, Auburn and OU are undefeated at the end of the season. USC destroys OU and Auburn defeats VA Tech. USC wins the mythical national title and Auburn, who finished 13-0 in the SEC, doesn't get an opportunity to play for the title? LOL That's perfect? Yeah, A perfect fuck up ....

And when a sport is based upon "style points", you know it has issues. Oh, you didn't beat them by enough, so you drop in the rankings.

You don't have to change the bowl games at all to improve the system and have a playoff. KEEP the bowls. Make all the top 4 bowls the playoffs for the top eight teams. 4 bowls. 4 1st round games. 2 bowls. 2 semi games. 1 bowl. 1 championship game. All other bowls remain as they are as well. Problem solved.

All you have are two teams playing 2 extra bowl games than they are now. So what?

Doug's right, this is by far the best system. And just imagine the bidding and hype and advertisements for all the sponsors for the playoff title game. I would imagine it would be similar to the Super Bowl. And imagine how great it would be if another Boise St. type team made a run to the title.

A playoff system using the current bowl system Doug's talking about would make an absolute killing. The bowls would make more money overall and everyone would be happy. It's really puzzling they haven't done it yet.

Not to be a party pooper, but if we have a playoff, I think we'll have to have games at campus sites. Say and Eastern team makes the playoffs, but they have 2 playoff games in Pasadena and Tempe. Is a team going to travel cross country, pay for tickets hotels, etc 2x in a week span? I think not. They'll traditional home and away games.

The bowls are cute, but to have a playoff, get rid of the bowls.

I wonder if it was possible, if the Buckeyes were capable of winning either--

Meineke Car Care Bowl

or

Chick-fil-A Bowl

take the top 6 teams ..... 1 and 2 get byes

3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5

lowest seed from those four squads play 1 and the other plays 2.

3 vs 6 @ Fiesta Bowl

4 vs 5 @ Sugar Bowl

Next week 1 vs ? @ Rose Bowl; and 2 vs ? @ Orange Bowl

two weeks later: National Championship game

keep the lesser bowls for the 900 other schools .... the main goal, somehow get into the Top 6 of the BS (not a typo)

Problem is the bowls weren't designed to decide a National Champion. They're essentially glorified exhibition games- at least, that's what they were when they started.

The best solution is a 16-game tournament with bids for all 11 FBS conference champions and five at-large teams. Play the first two rounds at least at campus sites.
