Brady & Patriots are cheaters

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I hate Tom Brady, but there was zero evidence against him and Rooney had nothing to do with this decision.

It was a truly independent Judge, one that the league actually sort of picked as they forced it to NY instead of Minny,.

Correct.

I disagree. You can debate the advantage. Personally, in a cold weather environment I find it a lot easier to throw a ball and catch a ball when they are under inflated. A highly inflated ball and cold weather makes that thing feel like a rock. That impacts your grip and hence your ability to spin the ball. Also catching it would be easier because it wouldn't bounce as much upon impact. I think the advantage is real. Now is it game changing? That's debatable but IMO it certainly makes it easier to execute plays.

Bottom line is, the footballs were under inflated in such a way to side step the rules. The Patriots CLEARLY tried to gain an advantage, that is not debatable. What was debatable was the proof that Brady had knowledge and/or instructed the balls to be doctored. Even though it's hard to imagine he didn't have a role in it, it was hard to prove according to a judge.

And the Patriots were punished for this, harshly.

Brady's involvement was circumstantial at best, with a sham report and countless missteps along the way by the NFL to try and implicate him.

In the end, the NFL gets what they want...storylines to deflect from rising health concerns, rampant drug use and increasing violence off the field.

LOL thank goodness common sense finally reigned here. The NFL had a specious case, both in terms of what the Patriots actually did (the first report that all footballs were low was false) and whether it was of any advantage. The NFL simply didn't care about the issue, which is why they not only let each team doctor their own footballs (a rule that remains in place) but had no set procedures for checking them. A witch hunt all the way.

People just wanted to see the Patriots burn. They sort of got it, since this was such a travesty of justice that they lost a first rounder. All for something no one would have cared about had it not been the Patriots.

Part of the reason it was overturned was there was even some doubt how the balls got under inflated plus the league "leaked" inaccurate numbers on purpose. The balls were under inflated an average of .5-.75 pounds, not the 2 pounds the league was making it out.

I hate the Patriots, but the NFL has become an embarrassment.

Goodell is terrible. You can't suspend a guy for 4 guys, without any proof he did this. Just terrible. People should care about this. It's not about Tom Brady and the Patriots. People hate them, that's fine.

The point is, if he can do this to them. Then he can do this to anyone. What if he did this to the Browns?

Glad the judge overthrew this ridiculous suspension, and circus. Now can we get back to football, and fire Goodell? He's horrible.

It was a nice Dog & Pony show that Goodell pulled to try and prove he didn't have Kraft's hand up his ass, pulling the strings. But ultimately we can rest easy knowing the league is still ran by the Kraft and Rooney families.

The Patriots still got a ridiculous death penalty for this.

Think about the slap on the wrist penalties we and the Falcons got. We admitted to our crimes. They didn't prove shit, and gave the Patriots the death penalty.

Not exactly parity Goodell plays by.

The Pats are very good at being dishonest and sneaky. Kudos to them for finding the technicality. A rule is a rule, so I believe they cheated.

Just for the record. I'm not standing up to the Pats. I've stated I hate Belichick, and think he's a dirtbag.

ESPN did a players poll on this recently. Getting their opinion on what players think of this.

80 percent of players, out of 100 said they believe other teams are doing very similar things. One player admitted we do way worst things to the football than what Brady supposedly did.

This is sports people. These people and organizations are very competitive. You really don't believe other teams don't push the limits of they can or can't do?

Let's not be naive and pretend the Patriots are the only team, ever, to break the rules to get a competitive advantage here. They're just one of top franchises to have been caught doing it. And, hey, I don't exactly feel sorry for them. You get caught, you face the wrath. That's part of it. But I never for one second felt they are the only team to do this shit.

There have been many other teams caught bending the rules. Doing shit worse than them. No one cares, because they suck. What the Falcons did was a MUCH bigger deal. Artificial noise? That's a really big deal.

But when it's the Patriots, everyone ask like they raped their mother or something.

I'll take their cheating and winning, over where the Browns are. I don't think anyone here wouldn't. If cheating meant winning was that easy, then the Browns would be good.

.

While i agree, if he suspended the starting qb of the Browns 4 games it might actually help our chances to win.

I'm not going to refute the notion that other teams are likely doing this, but I still think those sniveling d-bags broke NFL rules. Been in this position more times than other teams.

Maybe, but what we're talking about is beyond stupid. Air pressure in a football? If the NFL thought this matter was sooooo serious to begin with, why in the world would they allow teams to bring their own balls to the game, and basically have the freedom to do what they want with them. The maximum punishment for this infraction of this rule is a fine. Not a suspension, not lost of draft picks.

And if the Pats were getting an advantage. Brady seemed to throw worse in the first half with the deflated footballs, than in the second half with the properly used balls.

This was badly overblown from the start. Even if the Pats were guilty of this, they never proved shit. The Wells report looked more like a frame report.

I'm not even painting an innocent portrait on the Pats here. They're not above doing anything. But it's pretty bad, that Goodell can make them look like victims here. And he did.

The NFL obliged when Tom Brady (and Peyton Manning) requested teams be able to control their own footballs! It was Brady who was asking for the rule change back in 2006, when the NFL did control the footballs.

Don't lie, you love yourself some Tom Terrific! :chuckle:

I think he's a great QB. I've said it numerous times. Love him? I admire him as a great player. But I don't love the Patriots, at all. I think they do a lot of shady shit.

I just all along thought this was beyond ridiculous. I don't think Brady seriously was even thinking about the rules. I think all QB's have a preference of how they like the ball. And I do believe he prefers his footballs, a little more on the deflated side.

And I could care less, I think QB's should be allowed to have the ball basically how they prefer. The only advantage here is grip. Obviously with a better grip, sure you can throw the ball easier.

But if that's cheating, then why not ban QB's from wearing gloves? That's about the level of advantage I feel this gives a QB. Which is pretty laughable.

My buddy who drafted Brady in the 9th round of his fantasy league is pretty pumped
