Browns Adding to Game Day Experience

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
From the outside looking in, I don't get the Browns makeover. One of the most iconic jerseys in the game doesn't need to be changed that much IMO. I've always viewed Green Bay, San Fran, Pittsburgh, Oakland, and Cleveland as the unchangeable, easiest to identify jerseys in the game.
And that's what I think they are going for - at least with those leaks. It's also what several of the (younger) people in here are bitching about. They want trendy and we all know that doesn't last.

I mean, you guys will be even easier to identify now if the leaks are legit. Have to be the only team with the city name across the chest.

I kind of like them, but if they didn't want backlash over the change not being radical, they shouldn't have hyped them up to be. Kind of brought that on themselves.

How is it not a radical change?

They've added an entirely new color to their jerseys both top and bottom, they've changed parts of the helmet, changed the numbers, the sleeve stripe, the lettering, and supposedly are going to add different stripes to the side of the pants. And that's just from what we know, who knows what the official jersey will include.

Perhaps people were expecting a total rebrand. For me, though, this is about as radical as you can get without totally changing the Browns colors or name.

The orange jerseys are not drastically different from the William Green "era" that they wore for a couple seasons. If you visit the OBR they did a nice comparison between the two. I like going back to orange jerseys, but why say it is "cutting edge" and a major change? I guess we normally dont use orange jerseys and pants, but we actually done so at different points in the past. I am glad the brown pants will finally have some type of stripes as I thought that was a horrible look. As far as keeping the tradition, you can always wear your traditional plain white on white orange helmet jeresys a few times a year to appease the older fan base (it is allowed under nfl rules) but I think the idea that we should never make updates to jeresys is way too conservative of an approach. This is not a religion, and you are not changing words in scripture. It is a pro football team, plus the current look is not even the actual original look of the franchise to begin with. The Browns worry too much about some 65 year old guy in Beachwood who is going to get angry that they introduce an alternative color like gray. There was no need to hand cuff nike. People will get over the change over time, and change is good and necessary in life. I am sorry but our brown jeresys with orange helmets and white pants is seen as ugly (and wildly out dated) by the rest of the league, and many of us within the fan base who are not as vocal as the older crowd who is stuck in the past.

I grew up in the the mid to late 80's when we wore the all whites and orange helmets and I still like that look. However, seeing it 2-3 times a year is all I need to "keep the tradition" At some point in the future I am sure there will be more drastic changes, and I think this was a great time to do it.

I feel like people don't realize the stripes on the jerseys have, pretty much, been pretty close to this new concept forever...

San Fran has changed their jerseys several times....
The Steelers jersey has def evolved over the time. The original they wear for throwbacks are hideous and outdated. Oakland and Green Bay had great designs and color schemes from the start, but even they have evolved from the start. No one in the NFL thinks our brown tops with a plain orange helmet and white pants is on par with those other franchises. Like I said if you go to the team site they will tell you that look was not the actual original look anyways. So why do you want to hold on to it? It is not the founding jersey, and there have been times where the Browns actually only wear the Brown tops when they had to on the road 85-90.
Sorry, but the arguement is full of myth and misconception. I even recall a survey a few years back where our brown tops with white pants was voted the least appealing look in the NFL around the league. I never liked it for the past 30 years, and I am glad we are taking small steps to move away from it.

Really think y'all need to reserve judgment until you see them wrapped around pads and on players. May look totally different. When the sleeves are blown out like that, it looks odd. The way to mockups have the stripes, it looks pretty clean.

Exactly... Nike isn't in the business of making sloppy looking anything. When you see them on pads, I bet they'll take on a whole new look.

At least we know there will be brown jerseys still due to Whitner telling us about 9 different combos. I like orange as our primary. Cant wait to see orange on orange.

If the leaks are the new uni's than that's what they are. I do, however, have a hard time believing that Nike would be that negligent to ship these out that far in advance to the official unveiling by the team. Especially since it's been such a secret for 2 years.

I can't believe I'm actually typing this but Daryl Ruiter had a good point, this regime has been known to put "stuff" out there to see what is revealed so they know where that leak is within the organization.

It's been mentioned that there will be a kiosk set up at the Convention Center once the uniforms have been revealed so those who attend can purchase right away. I could see this as the exclusive day one sales area until the malls open Wednesday morning. Or I could be completely full of shit.

The more I look at the jersey...are those stripes on the sleeve or shoulders?

Yeah, I can't really tell. And just the placement of them or how they are hanging makes the sleeves look big/long as hell. It looks like a shirt I would find in my dads closet with Harley Davidson on it or a wolf head in front of trees.

Yeah, looking at them and then looking at someone like LSU...I think the stripes are on the shoulder, not the sleeve like I thought.
