Browns Adding to Game Day Experience

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I came up with five different jokes for this and all of them made me look like I was the kind of person that celebrated victory after fighting a midget.

Oh yeah. I'm just waiting for all of the jokes to roll in. There's always a good opportunity to knock the Browns! All they have to do is something!

Wonder when LaCanfora will drop the "bringing sick people into a toxic place" article.

Wow. Berea Council approved this unanimously... Could it just be that you missed two huge things?

  1. Income tax from the Browns is split between Cleveland and Berea. This tax netted Berea $3 million just in 2014.
  2. Ten NEW community service pledges (below):
    • Admitting the public to at least two practices or other football events per year.
    • Giving an unspecified amount of office and athletic equipment to the city for civic purposes.
    • Hosting a yearly fundraising event for the Berea Youth Sports Commission and/or Lou Groza Football, a recreational league
    • Giving the commission and/or Groza football tickets yearly to a home game and a "game day experience"
    • Giving an unspecified number of tickets to Browns games and events to the city, which will pass them along to local nonprofit organizations
    • Helping the city get grants and community programs from the National Football League
    • Sending a player, alumnus or coach to a local civic event each year
    • Hosting a yearly public safety training program
    • Producing three promotional videos about the city. Kleem expects to post them online and show them to prospective businesses
    • Making the fieldhouse available for civic use 15 days per year
Looks like it'll take Berea 3 years to recover the funds. Man, that Jimmy... What a crook.

Sounds like a pretty sweetheart deal for the Browns, who have been tactically whispering about moving HQ for a few years now.

On it's face, seems like a game well played by Haslam.

Which I don't think is something I've said before.

Good for the Browns, but would of been sweet if the rumors were true and they moved to Columbus. Well, for me anyway. Would of been completely idiotic for the Browns.

I see people still expecting the camp to move but the headquarters are obviously going to stay now.

Seems like they've been working on that facility continuously since the return. 15 different locker room floor plans, Mangini's eavesdropping equipment, flame throwers to kill staph because the players were using the same towels to dry their balls or something, Joe Banner's favorite fake quotes, completely unnecessary propaganda radio studio. Whoever the contractors are for that place have to be living large.

Trying to go after the Columbus fans is a smart move, but I don't think holding training camp or having your headquarters there does anything for that. They need to win. That's the only way to win over fans.

If the Browns moved to Columbus, I would personally assassinate Jimmy Haslam.

There's only room for one football team in Columbus and they're already perennial winners.

At least we get the Brown/Orange scrimmage here at The Shoe, right?

And of course that weekend I will be in Cleveland... :banghead:

@Deezus This reminded me of you. John Oliver is growing on me and this is pretty funny/spot-on. Although I agree with his premise, I'm too attached to the team(s) to put myself in the position where the team(s) can pick-up and go..

Its not like this only happens in the US...

Tottenham Football Club's new stadium in North London is being funded partly 50 million pounds of supporter money.

West Ham only agreed to move to the Olympic Stadium after the government upped funding for refurbing the stadium to 190 million pounds. West Ham will pay an annual rent of 2 million pounds.
