Browns Free Agency 2015

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It seems like every other off-season we are discussing Matt Moore or Ryan Mallett.

Funny, because I feel like every offseason we are discussing some rookie or second year guy who spent their college years in some spread offense that didn't require snaps from center.

I expect the Browns to make a splash either in the draft or via free agency. Seeing as how the current FA QB names aren't going to do it, I am thinking the panache we're looking for is coming from there. I'd keep saying Suh, if I had any conviction that he'd seriously look here.

Well, we do have a tradition of a rookie QB and a career back-up fighting for the starting spot every year.

Prepare yourselves for every big name FA tied to the Browns simply because of their cap space.

Agent spew is coming.

I do agree that the recipe for many years has been "career backup vs. rookie" and we can all agree it hasn't produced. In doing so, positions around the QB position have also suffered in development.

I'm keeping my eye on trade opportunities. There are a lot of fan bases who have turned on their quarterbacks for the same reason the Browns had rushed to negative opinions on all their previous starters in the past decade. Take advantage of the quick to sour and fickle NFL fans and see what a guy like Kaepernick, Cutler, or Foles who is admittedly third or fourth tier. That's my ideal way to handle this self-fulfilling prophesy.

With all that has been reported over the past few days, how will that affect the Browns and free agents? Some may not want to be apart of the organization, while some free agents may see our record the past year and think different. I'm not sure what to expect.

Exactly, I think that interest is soundly overblown by lazy journalism which assumes Kelly will mortgage the future because he coached the kid.

I don't see that as realistic.

That said, a year removed from free agency and a huge question mark long-term, maybe they move on in some other capacity.

At which point, I'd be first in line. I really think Foles is pretty talented.

Have to disagree, I have a friend in the org. and he says it's almost laughable how public they're making their drive to get Mariota.

Also, apparently it is a shit show there with Chip and the org. I guess he is a real POS and the attitudes there are at a boiling point but he also goes, "but the org. is competent enough to not let that stuff leak in the mass-public media like Cleveland."

It's difficult to keep leaks from springing when each departed employee (coaching especially) is a potential leak. They made an awful move by re-hiring Lombardi and canning him against his will...

Keep a staff around, retain those that show improvement and a willingness to adapt over a few years' time-span and amicably rid yourselves of the bad coaches, but don't turn into a situation where that person needs to save their reputation.

Sounds, to me, like that payment to Lerner might be a pretty big deal for JH3.. I don't think they'd have made this decision yet if it was about football alone.

Sounds to me like nobody renewed their season tickets :D

McQuistan was quietly a huge disappointment. When Mack went down I expected him to jump into the starting lineup with Greco sliding to center. McQuistan must have been hopeless if they kept going back to McDonald.

Is there any way the team could be removed from Haslam as the result of the Flying J situation?

That's the only chance this team has to experience success while he owns it.
