Browns Free Agency: 2016

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Signing RG3 gives us options and leverage in the draft. I am sure Ten is trying to get the Browns to trade up to #1 saying they have offers for the pick from a team who wants the top QB. The browns can now say then do it, as we are not sure if we need to a take a QB at 2 now. It also might keep Ten from making a trade, as we might be hot on the same postion guy.

Also, if we get to 2 an all the QBs are on the board, we could try to get a random for the pick knowing we have RG3.

Not saying I would do any of these but it does gives us options in the draft.

Personally wouldn't be opposed to the Browns dropping back to 4-6 in order to pick up an extra pick on someone looking for Myles Jack/Bosa/Ramsey.

Picking up an extra 3rd round be a welcome addition, or getting back into the 2nd for that matter.

If RG3 fully checks out, and I am sure this FO will damn make sure of it, then I am completely fine with trading back. IF, they truly feel Goff is not the answer or they have Wentz/Goff on the same level.

Missing out on Goff would suck, but if we could somehow still land Wentz + pick up an extra 3rd or as boob said, a 2nd, I would be ecstatic.

It ALL starts with the QB. We have to trust this FO if they feel Wentz is the better prospect/on par with Goff. But we also have so many holes and in this complete rebuild, we need to add as much youth talent as we can.

I guess we will know more tomorrow at Wentz's pro day.

A tall task.

I wouldn't even get cute and trade down. There's too many things that could happen such as other teams trading ahead of us to nab Goff and Wentz, or someone like say the Cowboys, realizing they're drafting in a position they aren't typically in and pull an ultimate shocker by grabbing Goff/Wentz to develop for a few years behind their veteran starter. Sign RG3, draft Goff at 2, and spend the next few drafts building the rest.

RGIII....trade McCown to Jets...take Ramsey at 2, WR at 32, Connor Cook/Cardale Jones/etc in 3rd...SuperBowl

All those Super Bowls we've been to since 99 prove this model works after all.

Connor Cook, Cardale Jones.

I'm honestly fascinated by people who think this is a good idea.

He has to be joking because he just can't be serious about that take.

Only two QBs in the later part of the draft interest me. Vernon Adams and Dak Prescott

We will have plenty of years to get all the project QBs you could ever dream of and stash them on the practice squad

This is the first time in over a decade we get the first shot at a QB worth taking (aka excluding the Geno/Manual year and probably some others I'm forgetting). Guys don't get soft on this, or talked out of it. I'd love a stud LBer or safety.

But Goff at 2, damnit

Let's not get cute. Just take Goff and it's been a great offseason.

Just a testament to professionalism and reputation that 37 year old Josh McNown might net us a draft pick whereas nobody would touch JFF with a 100 foot pole.

You know what you're getting with McCown. He's not good, but he's decent. He's a professional.

Manziel is a wild card. He's not a good NFL player and he also has off the field issues. It would probably be easier for people to talk themselves into Manziel's perceived potential if he weren't such a train wreck off the field.
