I clearly said why I hate him. His face and his attitude. I said nothing against the guy as a business man, it just seems like everyone who has seen him since coming to Cleveland is turned off by his face. Even friends of mine who aren't Browns fans are perturbed by that guy's weird ass face.

lol @ hating a guy for what he looks like.

I'd say the use of the word "black" is for the purpose of drama... How sure are we that Zimmer wouldn't treat any young kid who plays poorly like a dog? No context there to make that assumption.

I was actually being sarcastic. Thanks for playing though. Johnny, tell him what he's taking hom!

seems reasonable

Anyone who has a problem with Banner has no legitimate reason to. Just being ignorant fans who won't even give a guy a chance to do his job before evaluating him.

Alright children. I never said Banner should be fired. Never said he's not doing his job well. I just said his face weirds me out. Pretty sure I'm allowed to say that.

DUDE'S GOT A WEIRD FACE

Chip Kelly having to stare at that guy's golden snaggleteeth for 7 hours had to of at least turned him off of the Browns a little bit.

Enough with the mindless Banner talk, please...

With that said, here's my quick take on Zimmer and Chud:

- The first thing that sticks out about Zimmer is that he's perhaps the leader type that this organization is looking for.. Everything that I have heard, read and been told about about Zimmer has all been very positive and glowing about his coaching and leading ability... He may rub some people the wrong with way with his abrasive matter but it's who he is and what makes him the coach he is... Now about his coaching ability: I have always been impressed he's managed to produce a top defense in Cincy despite not having all the pieces, those pieces not always fitting together and managing a bunch of misfits... He gets those guys ready, gets them to play well and puts them in good positions... And that's even going back to his Cowboy days too...

I like the type of attitude he would bring this team and the knowledge he already has in this division.. He's also served under some pretty good coaches... He would also likely keep the 43 defense here and would likely take it to another level with his coaching.. I also think he would come in here with a chip on his shoulder after being passed over so many times, which could be a good thing for the Browns..

For what worries me: he's been a part of a few dysfunctional organizations in Cincy and for a few years in Dallas... He also hasn't really experienced too much success on the team side other than his first few years in Dallas... He's never been a head coach at any level but has football in his blood lines..

There's word that he would bring Hue Jackson with him as the OC, which would be quite a combo... Everybody here knows I liked Jackson as a HC candidate so getting Jackson here to run the offense would be nice... My only worry about that is the stability and leadership at the top of this organization with Jackson and Zimmer being the two top guys.. They're very strong personalities and I wonder if it would work for the good..

Overall, I'm a bit iffy on Zimmer... I think he would be a solid hire but I think I would have to research it further to get a full grasp on him...

On Chud: I'm not a fan of him becoming a HC...at this point in time... I think he's a good offensive mind and I do think he'll be a head coach one day but he's not ready to become one now.... Certainly not for this team with where it's at... It would be cool to see a guy like Chud who's a Ohio & Browns guy get the job but aside from that, I'm not sure he's a good fit...

People will point to his work with Cam Newton and DA and while they did have very good 1st seasons with him as the OC, the whole offense did, they also experienced significant drop-offs the next year...

My other concern is that he's only been in the NFL for 8 years, which is limited...

I believe he needs more seasoning as a NFL coach and a coordinator before he's ready to take over a NFL job...

See, this is why Cleveland fans are the best. The absolute best.

Story - Zimmer is a cold, merciless asshole who treats his players like animals.

Cleveland fans - THAT'S MY GUY! GIVE HIM WHATEVER HE WANTS!

I've heard that Zimmers players love the guy. Anyway, I really like Air-Chud and Zimmer. Sort of wonder if Chud is really HC material though..

We've had a string of Romeo > Mangini > Shurmur at HC since 2005... I don't think you can blame fans for wanting a bit of personality this time around.

More often than not the successful coaches in the NFL are assholes. Pushovers do not get much respect from the players.

Going from Shurmur to Zimmer is like going from Kristen Stewart to Jack Nicholson.

Except the players love him. Just a heard an interview from a CIN guy(I believe their radio guy who is a former player) who said 95% of the players he coaches swear by the guy. He cited Terrance Newman as an example, saying the guy got the most out of him these last 2 years and basically turned his career completely around. Credited Zimmer with saving his career. Also, if you ever watched Vontaze Burfict play, the guy was an utter failure last year. He was awful. He'd take 75% of the plays off, which is why such a great prospect goes undrafted. Burfict is now a complete maniac who will end up being the Bengals starting MLB for years to come. He swears by Zimmer's influence on his life.

The story you are referencing was by one guy who sounds a bit miffed, imo. I'll take the words of all these players who have played for him and seem to overachieve consistantly.

Just a correction, Newman has only been with Cinci for one season.

Hey guys, this is some of the text I sent in an email to my dad regarding this next tier of Browns' HC candidates. It's not too in-depth, because my dad doesn't really care too much for specifics; so sorry if it's not too vast. Like Smooth mentioned, they aren't sticking to one 'coaching tree' or pigeon-holing their HC search; despite all the bad stuff I've been hearing (and feeling) about Banner, I'll reserve judgement until a Head Coach is named. In my opinion, I think the Browns' brass is focusing on leadership potential, instead of innovation.

Troy Calhoun, HC Air Force: They snuck him in for an interview last week, while in Phoenix. He is a former military Officer, and was an OC in Houston when David
Carr had one of his best seasons. He has the type of leadership personality that would work great with our young players; he demands accountability. The job he has done at AF is very impressive, especially considering the talent pool he has to work with. I don't have really any idea who Calhoun would bring with him for a staff; he has ties to Shanahan and Gary Kubiak.

Marc Trestman, HC Montreal Allouettes (CFL): This guy has A TON of offensive experience in the NFL. He was Bernie’s QB coach in Miami and here in Cleveland, and has extensive experience as a QB coach and OC; in addition, he was the OC when Rich Gannon won MVP in Oakland. He also helped Weeden prep for the draft, in which he really raised his draft position. He isn’t a fiery personality, but he is more of a cerebral type. Has been a HC in the CFL, and has won two Grey Cups in three attempts. I’m not really worried about the transition from CFL to the NFL. Also, Jerry Rice speaks VERY HIGHLY of this guy. He has a lot of NFL connections, so his assistant coaching pool might be pretty deep. Very very strange looking dude, however….

Ray Horton, DC Arizona: Another fiery leader type that will show his emotions as he walks down the sideline. He supposedly had a fantastic interview, and there seems to be a Mike Tomlin-esque vibe about him. Arizona’s defense was among the NFLs elite last year, as well. He was a DBs coach in Pittsburgh, where Haslam
first interacted with Horton. With the regime change in Arizona, he might be also available for a DC spot. Very good leadership qualities, and will hold guys accountable. I wonder if Whiz would be Horton's OC?

Rob Chudzinski, OC Carolina: Chud was our TE coach during the Butch Davis era, and was OC during the Derek Anderson (pro bowl) era here. He has a decent
amount of experience for a relatively young guy, and would be a good teacher for our TEs. He’s from Sandusky IIRC. While I’m not sure of his personality, he does fit the description of an offensive-minded young coach….but you could have said the same of Shurmur lol. I'd be fine making him OC, and even Asst HC; however, I'm a bit iffy on the prospect of him as our HC.

Mike Zimmer, DC Cincinnati: I think this guy is going to be a favorite of Haslam, just from what I’m hearing about him. Besides being the emotional leader of a very good Cincy D (including the most productive DL in the league), his guys will walk on hot coals for the guy. He is a young, fiery type, who is supposedly a ‘bad interview’ because he tells it like it is; however, I saw a tweet by Browns LB Scott Fujita saying Zimmer is a damn good coach. Regardless if he gets the CLE gig or
not, no doubt he will tell Banner/Haslam what is wrong with this team, and how he’d fix it. As much as I like Zimmer as a HC candidate, I'm not too eaher to see Hue Jackson as is OC.

Bruce Arians, OC Indy: He is getting a ton of good pub for the fantastic job he did as Interim HC of the Colts, after HC Pagano fell ill to leukemia; as well he should. He is 61 years old, and has never been a head coach before (Romeo Crennel part II?). He was an OC for us during some lean years, and went to a SB as OC of the Steelers a while back. Word is Arians REALLY wants the Cleveland HC job, and I think we finally requested an interview a couple days ago. I’m not sure a 61 year old first time HC is something that the new regime wants, at this time. Plus, his health is a bit of a concern, since he had to be hospitalized right before the Colts’ playoff game last week.

Ken Wisenhut, former ARZ HC: He was the OC in Pittsburgh before getting a HC job in ARZ. Arizona did go to the SB as a wild card; however, I’d argue that was more a result of Kurt Warner going Madden-style every playoff game, more than anything. He is familiar with the AFCN, would probably want to destroy the Steelers every time, and is an offensive mind. When the new regime took over, I remember Banner mentioning something about the success rates of NFL head coaches in their second job; so this might be something to consider. I do think that Whiz was a bit handcuffed by a shitty personnel team/GM/President in Arizona, so I wouldn’t be against hiring him if we built a strong personnel team to support him (or any of our candidates). Not a fan.
