Building a Gaming PC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
comeback15 gets you 15% off, if you can actually get it to finish checking out...

Been working fine for a while now. So. Really wish I had the cash to build a few rigs to sell. Could easily make some money on markup because of that bundle.

Yeah i ended up getting it, i saw it on slick deals like minutes after it was posted. Kinda wish I didnt see it lol, oh well ill either sell the stuff or just hold on to it and when its time to do another build (HTPC?) ill have RAM and SSD taken care of for cheap

I was gonna buy 3 and sell all of it on ebay individually, but never got it to go through before I gave up and went to bed. If everyone hammering the site last night had the same plan I'm not sure how much money I would have made though.

Anyone about to build a gaming PC should avoid buying the i5 at this point over the i7.

DirectX 12 substantially benefits from hyper-threading providing the same 30% proportional performance boost in synthetic testing.

The concept that multi-core systems were not useful for gaming dies with the release of DX12.

So, i7's with HT and maybe FX-8xxx from here on out.

I'm still rocking a first gen i7 860; cant believe this thing is still trucking along like a champion.

Not much has changed with respect to the maximum performance of CPUs in the past 6-7 years unfortunately.

We seem to have reached the limits of our present technology.

It is kind of a good and bad thing. Good that it has saved me a ton of money; bad that it is kind of depressing that we have plateaued a bit.

This i7 is easily the best processor I have ever owned. Nothing even comes remotely close to it in fact. I have had it since late 2009 - early 2010 and I see no reason to replace it any time soon.

Agreed..

I still have my Dual Xeon X5492 and it's still kicking ass and taking names.

Do you think quantum computing will be the next step and will it be a viable option in our lifetime?

Who cares. Fucking space elevators.

The fuck? What is this, Back To The Future? Those hoverboards concepts that include copper surfaces are really taking shape.

Just what I want to do... fucking take an elevator to space. Have you been to the airport?

Pretty good step in quantum computing via Google:

The raw processing power of a theoretical quantum computer would have endless possibilities including rendering graphics that are are on par with real life as it would be able to render vital processing functions that a normal computer is forced to take in steps, all at the same time.

Imagine the upcoming and soon to hit home VR tech (I own an Occulus dev kit and it's amazing) coupled with almost unlimited processing power.

Give me virtual Interstellar in the comfort of my home.

I posted that for gour not you.

My gaming laptop is a few years old and just like all gaming laptops, it has started to slow down. Just need something quick and don't really feel like doing the research to build a pc atm.

Decent buy for the price for the time being or should I just hold off until the end of the year and build one.

that PC is garbage. do not buy.

edit- that is if you want to game at all... you can get a PC with a real GPU for that price. but for an office machine, i guess its OK. You'll still be hard pressed to find anyone recommend a prebuilt unless its on a nice sale and used strictly for office type stuff
