Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My mom knows to not talking figure skating with me...i just really dont care, lol

My kids have never been into sports, but last summer I appealed to my daughters genius level STEM mind (studying molecular cellular biology at the honors college straight A's, yes I am bragging on my daughter, deal with it, lol)

Anyways, my daughter was home from college and I told her how much baseball is stats driven. She started listening did some research with my help with the stats and fell in love with baseball.

Fast forward to a month ago when my daughter had to do a stats project for a "client" in her Data Science class (double major) and wrote computer programs for all of the Guardians 2023 stats. She ended up doing more than she needed, ofcourse got an A in the class, but I will use anything I can to get a child into a sport that I love, lol (first time it worked, wont force a kid to watch with me, they are allowed to be who they are)

Thought you would appreciate that story and while i am not into woman sports a ton, it will explain to why I am so defensive about women in sports, as a fan or athlete or coach or executive, its just that my whole sports fandom involves women.
That's really cool!

I admit, I never did get into baseball (also only marginally ever got into hockey, of the big four team sports). The closest I got was in the early 2000s when I read about Shawn Green in Sports Illustrated and decided I would try to learn and watch because he was really hot (apparently I wasn't the only gentile woman who thought so; I think he ended up marrying one). But I didn't learn much; I just ended up drooling over him and not paying attention to much else on the field.

As for son, I'll definitely encourage him in sports, but if he ends up more like Dada and doesn't care much for it, I'll be fine with that also.

I'm totally cool with men being disinterested in sports, including women's sports. I don't mind at all an objective approach where someone says they don't like to watch the women because they just can't physically achieve the same kind of strength and speed as the top men; those things are empirically true, and no one should ever take offense at empirical truth. It's when the comments become mocking or insulting rather than simply objective and matter-of-fact, that I start to roll my eyes.

LMAO, I was going to point out the Shawn Green was a fellow Jew

Both of my kids played sports early on, neither took to them though, both for different reasons, wont bore you with the reasons.

But yeah, i need a team to root for, and didnt feel connected to the Cleveland Rockers and Since I have been here in Phoenix, have yet to connect with the local teams although I have lived in Phoenix longer than I lived in Akron.

I got into Woman's basketball when Purdue was good and attended several games the year that Steph White (who i knew) won POTY and a National Title for us. And I watch woman's track and field about as much as the men, which is only every 4 years at the Olympics, but I do watch it...and gymnastics like I said.

But the only woman's sport I watch actively is Tennis,

Ten turnovers tonight...big yikes

She was definitely a bit sloppy, but she was doubled most of the night and about half of those TOs were on teammates. Her last turnover was a beautifully-threaded pass in transition right to the pocket of her big running the floor, but her big wasn't looking for the ball - just running lol. The Fever are bad.

Thanks for giving context to the stats. I wasn't able to catch the game.

I get that it’s was her first game and she was probably nervous , I watch I good portion of the 3rd quarter, but I tell you what I did see, her defense is horrendous, she going to learn will fast you got to play defense up here, also pressure defense on her , she will struggle with the athleticism and speed they put on her, and she had some ugly turnovers, like the pick pocket that happen in the 3rd quarter and she barely chase after the players, she seen really frustrated out there, and had to be console by her teammates a few times……

Now I will say this her jumper is the real deal give her spaces she most likely draining it, but there probably 20 others players in this league you could say the same thing about, The problem she going to have is there only 12 teams in the WNBA so every team going to have a dawg on it, that could compete with her on both sides of the court, I hope she bring so much publicity to the League that they expand, and Cleveland get a team again, IMHO they have to spread the talent out in this league so players like her can be truly be seen the superstars they are….

Keep in mind I only saw mostly the 3rd quarter, a few highlights of the first half, I did watch a little bit of her exhibition games , So that’s just my assessment so far of her…….

I also think she has a target on her back bigger than any other player in recent WNBA history. They are going to try to wreck her. It will be interesting to see how she develops.

Exactly and that why I said it’s sucks WNBA only have 12 teams, every team going to have a player that can D up on her with there athleticism along ( hope @Lee don’t see this ) lol…….

Hoping they get to 16-20 in the reasonable future, Do they have Canadian squads, that seems like an easy place to get into at least 4 more large markets, no?

Like Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa & pick w/e fourth major city up their your heart may desire.

Ohio could def support a team, even Cincy would be good for all the HS girls here to look to for inspo!

Toronto is getting an expansion team next year I believe…….

Happy to hear such!

They need 16 or 20 teams to be a profitable and globally respected Proffesional League/Enterprise in my estimation.
