Carlos Carrasco will be promoted to start Tuesday against the Tigers.
Rosters expand on the same day, so a corresponding move will not be required. Carrasco, 22, is 5-1 with a 3.19 ERA in six starts at Triple-A Columbus. He was acquired in the Cliff Lee deal.

Should be fun to watch and see how he does.

I'm excited to see all the guys we call up. Anybody think Brantley will be up too?

How incredible would it be if they made Chris Perez start and finish every game the rest of the way ? Throw caution to the wind here... Spit in the eye of pitch counts and 5 man rotations..

Chris Perez pitches 33 complete games in a row. Nobody else throws a pitch, even if the games goes 15 innings or more..

Good, I cant wait to see him pitch. Hopefully some of these call ups will perform (especially since we traded an '08 cy young award winner for him).

PIP, I think you started the whole Chris Perez thing by sarcasm. And now your going with it :chuckles:

I certainly hope not.

He is really not ready.

I would much rather see Kerry Wood take every single inning from here on out- this would decrease the odds that next year he can reach his 'games finished' incentive that will vest his 2011 salary.:chuckles:

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Right-hander Carlos Carrasco will make his major-league debut for the Indians on Tuesday when he starts against Detroit at Comerica Park.

Carrasco, 22, was one of four players the Indians received from Philadelphia for Cliff Lee and Ben Francisco. Carrasco is 5-1 with a 3.19 ERA in six starts at Class AAA Columbus since the trade. In 42 1/3 innings, Carrasco has 36 strikeouts and the opposition is hitting .196 against him.

Overall, Carrasco is 10-11 with a 4.64 ERA in 26 starts at Columbus and Lehigh Valley. He has 148 strikeouts in 157 innings. The opposition is hitting .245.

Tuesday is the first day for expanded rosters and the Indians are taking advantage of it with Carrasco's promotion. Carrasco will take rookie left-hander David Huff's spot in the rotation. It's unclear if Huff is being shut down, but the Indians were concerned he was reaching his threshold in innings. They do not want him pitching more than 160 to 170 innings this year.

Huff has thrown 140 2/3 innings between Columbus and the Indians this year. He leads the Tribe rotation with eight victories.

If the Indians don't shut down Huff, they could go with a six-man rotation in September.

Baseball America named Carrasco as the second-best prospect in the Phillies organization before the trade. They also named him the 52nd best prospect in baseball.

"I saw him last Friday night," said John Mirabelli, Indians director of scouting. "He was aggressive. He touched 95 and was pitching at 92 mph to 94 mph in the seventh.

"It's the third time I've seen him in the last 12 months. I think he's made some strides. He showed consistency with his slider and pitched inside with his fastball.

"I was impressed. He's got four pitches. He's got the weapons. He looked pretty close to being a major-league ready pitcher."

Hope he does well.

Apparently Lou Marson was finally called up too.

Does this mean Santana is going up to Triple A?

No, he's going to stay in Akron and play in the Eastern League playoffs. No reason to make the jump to AAA now.

Santana might never play in AAA for that matter.
