Over from the RealGM boards, from the NFL scout there...

Something I heard tonight, from the person who told me 3 weeks before the actual signing last year about LeCharles Bentley coming home:

David Carr is a pretty good bet to be the starting QB in Cleveland next year. It's beyond preliminary talks, and if the price I heard is legit, Browns fans should be happy. Now whether or not Carr is a signficant upgrade, who knows...

I'd really like the trade for Carr... I think he'd be a good fit here as long as we can develop our line into a solid one... The Texans offensive was a huge problem for him as well as the poor positional players... Putting him with K2, BE and JJ would do wonders for him...

Remember, this IS a rumor...

What would you trade for him? A second day pick at best...

Swap draft position in the 2nd and fourth rounds.

Wouldn't mind it...he's better than Joey Harrington and it makes a little more sense then getting a senior citizen (Kerry Collins, Brad Johnson)

I wonder how likely this is to happen...

Would Carr be any better than a healthy Couch? I'm not trying to be sarcastic either, that is a serious question. I just don't know what would help this team anymore, they completely baffle me. I would not want Phil Savage's job.

no. Im not impressed with carr at all.

I'd rather have Carr than Chuck Fries

If it happens, carr will become the sacrificial lamb for a year while whatever QB we draft learns the offense

I hope not, we've been down that road a few too many times already. I'm tired of playing rotating QB's. I wish we could just get a franchise guy in here for a few years and we could stop worrying about drafting a new QB every other year.

Carr is better than Frye, although that's probably not saying much.

How much would he cost against the cap?

I wouldn't mind this if it is on the cheap.

You need a line of at least solid college guys before bringing in a franchise QB...we're Junior Varsity in highschool about now..

I heard Carr was available earlier in the week but didn't hear this.

Did this guy end up saying what the price would be for Carr?

... and we need a D-line... and a quality RB... and some help in the secondary... and a head coach with a pulse... etc, etc.
