Carr in Cleveland? (Rumor)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm just saying..

It all starts in the trenches..your D-Line makes your LB's look good..your O-Line makes your QB/RB look good..

I'd prefer to sign free agent lineman such as Terdell maybe Kris Jenkins if he gets cut Steinbach and Dielman as opposed to drafting one that high. A lot of the best lineman are 2nd Rounders...I'd like Aaron Sears in Rd 2 that guy is a hoss..

We need to re up Fraley maybe for 2-3 years until Bentley is fully back..

I like drafting sexy in the 1st Round..provided we do well in Free Agency I'd like to get Adrian Peterson to help out whoever the QB is..I think AP is the real deal the only problem is his durability but I can't hold the collarbone injury against him, I don't think he's any less durable than Reggie Bush..

I agree, I'm just frustrated with the musical chairs, especially at QB. Of course I don't want to see a franchise guy getting killed back there, which would likely happen with our patchwork O-line. But at some point this team needs to start establishing some cornerstones. Right now who do we have that fits that mold? I would say only K2 and Wimbley are our guys. I would have said Bentley too prior to the devastating injury.

It would be nice at some point to have a QB that we don't really need to worry about. And I don't think Carr comes close to being that guy. I see him coming here, having tremendous expectations loaded onto him, performing average at best, and eventually getting killed by the fans and local media. I'm sorta tired of that story.

Believe me we all feel the frustration..if only we could draft a Reggie Bush and a Marques Colston that things would go from cellar to the AFC Title game.

I really hope we're aggressive in Free Agency like last year and go out and get who we want at a solid price. I loved the Bentley signing it's just a shame he's wrecked :(

Hopefully we make out like bandits this offseason and at least return to respectability..so maybe next year we can trade up in some rounds and need to fill only a position or two and be picky instead of drafting for quantity..

What about Sean Jones? I loved him this year..especially his hit on Gallery whoowee that was nasty :chuckles: He's a pro-bowl alternate I believe. Amazing two of our best players were Botch picks :uhh:

You're right, I should have included Sean Jones. I think he will be a stud. And Bodden is solid but I'd like to see him play a full season healthy.

A healthy Bodden is a Top 5 CB in the league..he covers a lot of ground and he's very physical..a lot of physical CB's get toasted but he's lockdown..he jars a lot of balls loose and had a few picks this year.

Great combo of strength and speed for a CB..

And don't forget about Gary Baxter when talking about lockdown corners. He's sweet and I'm sure he will be even better post-surgery on both knees. Someday the football gods will shine down on Cleveland Browns Stadium, right? I keep telling myself it has to happen...

But that's the great thing about the NFL, there's always hope (although it seems more and more distant with each Browns season that passes). Like cdt mentioned, the Saints get Bush, Colston, and Brees and they pull a complete 180. Things like that can happen if everything falls into place and I guess that's what keeps me renewing my season tix. 'Cause it sure as hell isn't the product on the field that keeps me coming back.

Man I post this rumor and barely get a few replies. Smooth posts it later and gets two full pages. You've got the magic touch Smooth.

I'm not gonna lie...when i read the thread title...i thought...

I DO NOT WANT LLOYD CARR BEING THE BROWNS COACH.

Update:

1. The Browns and Texans have progressed beyond preliminary talks about dealing David Carr to the Browns for LB Chaun Thompson and swapping 1st round picks, with the Browns getting a later extra pick. The Texans really want Adrian Peterson and are willing to dump Carr to get him. Apparently those Jake Plummer-to-Houston rumblings are serious too, though this person told me that he wouldn't rule out Byron Leftwich as the Texans QB next year. I'll believe that when I see it though...

We'd better not do this anytime soon or I'm going to be skull busting in Berea...

What if say we went out and got ourselves Dielman and Steinbach by some crazy stroke of luck? We could add Peterson and be on our way to a successful ground game and see what we could find QB wise in later rounds...

Think about it this way:

Either:

Quinn/Thomas/Peterson

or

Carr
1st Round Pick
Later round pick (depth)

Who's to say we would find a QB ready to start in the latter rounds of the draft?

I mean some scouts see Marshawn Lynch as a better running back in the NFL than AD... So, it could work out in our favor, or it won't...

Lynch
Late Round Pick
Carr

or

Frye/Middle round pick
Peterson

We have so many holes...I'm just being greedy trying to fill them all in one draft...

If we did do that though then we can trade down from 8 and grab Amobi Okoye!

It just depends on what the second pick we get is.

If its like a sixth round pick, no. It has to be day one.

First of all, I would much rather take Alan Branch then him.. At least he fits the 34 defense, unlike Okoye... After losing around 20 pounds, I doubt he'd want to gain another 20 to play the 34...

Plus I think the Bucs might take him at 4 or trade down and snag with.. Maybe with Minny so they can get CJ...

If Calvin Johnson is there they'll take him at 3 or 4...man if we lose the 3rd pick we're F'd in the A..
