Casspi Assfingers

after watching Casspi for a few months now, the original assessment of him has proven to be correct. Before the season started, someone compared his game to Sasha Pavlovic - and that is pretty much dead on: can't dribble, clumsy with the ball, slow decision maker, can only shoot spot up jumpers, can't do anything off the dribble...he's basically a Sasha clone, but not quite as painfully dumb as Sasha was. this is a shame, because Sasha was my least favorite player of the past 8 years and i cheered when the cavs finally got rid of him...and now only a few years later we have another Sasha. BUT, at least now we have a coach who is smart enough to bench Casspi. Mike Brown kept giving Sasha chance after chance after chance, despite the fact that he was proven garbage. the cavs just seem to be a magnet for these types of garbage wing players.

One of the great things about next season is I look forward to never having to see him in a Cavs uniform ever again. He needs to go where he belongs, on to one of the Euro League teams.

Dang W&G, you could post complete garbage and you would still get 10 thanks :chuckles: ...... But I heavily disagree that Asspi is gone next year. That would be like the Cavs admitting they messed up the Hickson trade (which they did). I have to be believe we could have gotten a first round pick we will actually see or a player that doesn't take a huge dump on the court every game for JJ.

we didnt mess up the hickson trade, casspi sucks but so does hickson. we will see that first round pick, its hard to suck as bad as sacramento and not get out of the top 10 at least once in the next 5 years.

It is strange how a player who showed at least a little promise could continue to regress each season. I mentioned a while back the Cavs should check out trading him. There reportedly was interest after they acquired him from the Kings. Might as well see if you can get something before any value drops.

I still think he's better than what he's shown but it still might not be worth waiting for.

He's been playing like hot middle east garbage this year. I think his value is already at an all time low, and by that I mean he's worthless for anything other than helping the Cavs lose games right now. It seems unlikely that the Cavs would get much for him in a trade. It's not like the Cavs need him to pick up a 50th draft pick. They can just buy those. Assi's cheap and under contract next season right now and his stock can only go up. If the Cavs don't draft a good wing, the team might even need him to play minutes again next year. So unless he the piece that pushes a deal through, I say hold him until the draft at least and give him a chance to gain value.

Even if we do get that pick we are stuck with Assfingers. I think we could have gotten a better player for Hickson than a guy that shouldn't be in the NBA and a lottery protected pick. Remember, Hickson's value was a lot higher last summer than what it was now.

Hickson's trade value was going down for the better part of 18 months when the Cavs traded him. There's ain't nothing out there that makes me think that the Cavs would have gotten more value from Hickson if they had waited until the end of the lockout to trade him.

If his trade value was high last summer, you think the Cavs could have traded him for something better. As it is, the Cav's waited until the last minute to see if they could get anything better, they ended up getting some wing depth at a cheap price, a pick that's likely in the 11-15 range, and only had to carry a contract that's 1/2 of Gibson's for two years. That was a good deal for a bone head like Hickson.

we dont have to keep omri, hes only guaranteed for what one year? and there was also the concerns about the lockout, after which jj would be a free agent. he would have asked for a lot of money from the cavs, none of which he deserves. i dont see sacramento ever being that top tier team in the west. thats a good thing, the pick will likely be in the teens when we receive it. A mid first round pick for JJ id do every time. casspi was just filler.

have you seen jj's numbers this season? hes terrible. even before this season, terrible. hes never been a good player.

Do any of the insiders know about Casspi's workout routine? The one thing going for him at SF position is his height and length. In game though he can't take advantage of it though because doesn't finish well thru contact. Good upper and lower body strength would help with this ( i.e. 10 lbs of extra muscle IMO) but right now he looks like pretty scrawny and not like a guy hitting the weight room

It seems like he's actually bigger than last year but not in a good way. Fluffier. Take these as a grain of salt because it's always hard to compare different poses, flexes, etc, not to mention that I don't know if that's a rookie or soph year pic, but he definitely looks like he gained some fat and possibly lost some muscle.

He definitely isn't a bulldog like Byron said he was before the season started.

Amen.

Casspi gained a lot of muscle mass since joining the NBA. I actually think that it really hurts his game. He looks much heavier and less athletic and I don't think it is the knee injury.
He used to score most of his points from fastbreaks, 3's and cutting to the basket without the ball. He doesn't seem to run as fast this year. Also, he mostly waits on the 3 point line on offense. I'm pretty sure that the coaches want him to do that to space the floor but that also means that he is not using is movement without the ball to his advantage.

He seems to totally loss his confidence. The way he played against the Thunder was pathetic. I still think that he can turn his game around and be a solid rotation player (definitely not a starter). His defense improved greatly since he joined the NBA. If he can keep improving his defense and pick up his energy level on offense he might be able to contribute to the cavs in the future from the bench.

Not saying he's hasn't gained weight. My point is more I'm not sure watching him that he's added lean muscle. Big difference and unless he's hiding it well he lacks the tone in his arms that one would normally expect from a guy who is hitting the weight room

Rejected by the rim on a wide open left handed jam. Nice work Assface.
