Re: Casspi's Poodelish performance thus far

How did Eyenga let us down? Did I miss something?

I guess he just isnt good enough according to our coaching staff, which I find a bit weird considering that M.Thompson is on the bench but there is nothing that would indicate that Eyenga doesnt give 100% effort.

Eyenga has not improved the weak parts of his game. That's on him. He is a crazy athlete, ok I get it, but he has to get better at the skills of the game or he won't see the minutes. I find the fact that he is not making progress, disappointing. 100 percent energy on the court is not the same as focus off the court. Look at Gee's progress. Look at Samardo. Like I said earlier if Christian can't take minutes from Cassipi, the way he is playing, he is a long way from starting on a good team.

Re: Casspi's Poodelish performance thus far

But why is Casspi still in a bad condition? His injury was weeks ago...If he is still suffering from it why doesnt he rest for 1-2 weeks and why does he continue playing basketball when he is hurt? Its not like we are in the middle of a PO run

I don't know if that's the problem or not. Just throwing out a possible explanation. If he isn't in great or game condition that could be explained by getting hurt in the offseason and not being able to work out which was then followed by a short training camp and preseason. The lockout and lack of an offseason did screw things up for some players

God this kid sucks

Waste of a post I know and I am sorry...but I had to let out some frustration

Re: Casspi's Poodelish performance thus far

Fucking irritated the hell out of me today. Bricked wide open 3 after wide open 3 and kept shooting jumpers instead of trying to do something to get himself going like driving to the basket.

Then garbage time comes, there he goes trying to post up people and running the floor for lobs

This may in fact be true, but it is WAY too early to give up on a player like Cassipi for a player like Eyenga. Cassipi will be just fine -- players like him get in slumps. The coaches will help him along, and he'll eventually fit the system better.

Re: Casspi's Poodelish performance thus far

I really can't explain why Casspi is being a bitch, off season conditioning could be a factor here. I think he eventually finds himself, but I'd like to see a lineup of Kyrie, Boobie, Gee, Thompson and Varejao that is the best we have going for us right now... In terms of Eyenga, he obviously is just lacking game experience. Being a psychology major has me asking myself, along with constant minutes in the D-League would it help Christian to just watch film all day?? Watch good defensive squads like Boston07-08, Detroit 04? I know many people are arm chair quarterbacks, but we have learned some things about the game of hoops just from watching at a distance. If all Christian lacks is experience, he could be learn a lot just from watching and playing. Thats assuming that he has it within him to reach into that mountain of physical potential.

I hope one day this kid figures it out, he has absolutely ELITE athleticism.... would love to go to that block party hosted by Christian and Tristan.... or as Carr says "Tris'cheen" can't wait to see the Carr mash ups on that one as well...Trisch'chen i mean Christan got him a midget in the house....

The proverbial leash may be tightening a bit.

From the PD:

BScott on Casspi miss and failure to get back on defense “It’s unacceptable. You’re going to miss shots. I don’t mind that . . . Still not doing your job on defensive end? That's not going to fly.”

Re: Casspi's Poodelish performance thus far

I think it'll be time for a change once we get home from this trip... Assuming we get our asses handed to us

Problem being what the hell can we really change to?

So maybe no changes I guess

There's a reason this guy couldn't start for the Kings and the Kings threw in a possible draft pick to get rid of him. But wine and gold goggle wearers will keep telling themselves he only struggled because the Kings are so dysfunctional.

Actually, players like him just aren't that good. The guy is slow, unathletic, and likes to camp around the 3 point line. I have no hope for him from what I've seen so far.

Wally World got into an All-Star game. And that is basically all he did, with the occasional post-up.

Wally was a lot more focused than Omri is playing at the moment. We aren't asking him to be Rudy gay, we are asking him to defend, rebound, and knock down open threes. He is not doing any of those three very well. At the moment AND he is making silly mistakes like turn overs.

I here you on the knees and the he will come around thing, but it looks to me as if his head is not in the right place.

Re: Casspi's Poodelish performance thus far

The Cavaliers got Casspi to mainly make open shots and so far he's been Welsch-like. If you're expecting him to create offense starting from the 3pt line it's not going to happen. I don't believe it's in his skill set and isn't moving well when has to quickly change directions. Part of it is mental but the other is that he's heavily reliant on others getting him shots. If the Cavs ran less pick-&-roll/drive-&-kick and more motion/pin downs etc it might help him. Might.

Re: Casspi's Poodelish performance thus far

Maybe Byron Scott needs to invest in a shock collar, because clearly the leash isn't working.
