I don't think a trade with the Suns where the Cavs end up with Markieff Morris is realistic. Cavs wouldn't want him. They'd have to find a third team with something the Cavs wanted at that price point, and that'd be tough.

A salary dump with PHX, in my mind, would be PJ Tucker (I agree, very good fit for the Cavs), Alex Len, TJ Warren, and Jon Leuer, if needed to make the salary math work. Len and Warren would then be packaged to a third team for a veteran PG.

Len and Warren should have value. They are on rookie contracts and some team out there will want a shot at one or both of them. Can't imagine dumping them would concern LMA. He'd be going there because of the backcourt and Tyson Chandler. He'd have a good backup in Markieff Morris.

Not absolutely positive that clears enough space for PHX, when you factor in the cap holds for Devin Booker and the empty roster spots, but it's close.

No picks should be needed.

If we get Len i'm not giving him away

Heat probably don't want to pay Whiteside 20 mil a year so they want to trade him now maybe? I don't know. I guess that would mean they wouldn't sign Wade either though wouldn't it?

It's not a matter of them not wanting to pay him 20M, it's a matter of them not having the cap space to do so, since they won't have his Bird rights.

It makes some sense for them to try to get value for him now, and beat the cap rules.

I realize Len was pretty good last year and maybe the idea of PHX trading him is a non-starter. I wasn't sure how much PHX valued him. Apparently not so much as to prevent them from signing Tyson Chandler, given that Len and Chandler won't play at the same time.

I think the Suns just acquired Leuer so his salary can't be combined with another player in a trade. But maybe it could help facilitate separate moves.

The 2nd meeting with LA is likely just a courtesy PR thing since the Lakers got so publicly embarrassed after the first meeting. The fans on their flagship station were skewering the Lakers for their ineptness. After this 2nd meeting I'm guessing LMA's people will say they were very professional and then sign elsewhere. LMA's agent's way of doing damage control for the NBA's supposed glamour team. Does anyone believe Kupchak and Byron Scott are going to change LMA's mind? No offense to Kupchak but he has the personality of a pine cone and Scott is just too old school. The Lakers really can't discuss basketball matters/analytics since their main guys outside Kobe (Russell and Randle) have yet to play in the NBA.

I think we are down to the Spur and Suns with an outside shot he stays in Portland. PJ Tucker would be a great fit as LBJ's backup. Tucker was also LMA's college teammate so not sure how that would work though. At this point the Heat are not even worth discussing as a landing spot for LMA.

Good point. I couldn't even remember how Leuer ended up on PHX. Just saw his name on their roster. Anway, if the salary is needed, you can just switch out Archie Goodwin, who could be dispatched with the other two guys to a third team.

I was sort of being greedy, thinking the Cavs could keep Leuer as a stretch 4 on their deep bench.

Maybe an additional PHX salary dump would require including Markieff, and that's why people are speculating he would need to be traded.

Heat doesnt have whiteside's bird right.
so Whiteside's vaule is not that great.
b.c teams dont have cap whiteside is one year and gone.
I

So I mean I guess the Heat could pull of a SnT and go with Wade, Bosh, Dragic, and Aldridge. And I see no reason Portland wouldn't be willing to do it if they got Whiteside and Winslow back.

I don't think Aldrige goes for it, but who knows.
