Those are all good points. Splitter did take on a lot of the defense and the contact up front and has helped Duncan to be fresh in the playoffs and has helped extend his career. SA has to replace him, whether they get LA or not. They either took a big gamble on signing LA or they have a contingency plan. With SA's history, I'd bet on the latter.I actually think Duncan has played much less C of late though. I'm sure he wants to bruise for the last couple years of his career...And now he has no one below him to give him rest there.
If Robin Lopez gets 14 mil per I'm done watching the NBA
It shouldn't be hard to get a high East seed, honestly. Atlanta won't win more games than us again this year. Bank on it. A healthy, cleaner Cavs team is a 60-win team. Could be 70-win team if we can bring in Mo and someone to back up LeBron.I agree; the Cavs will come out of the East again next season hopefully injury free regarding our major impact players. I just hope they don't burn anyone out trying to get a high seed; I don't think we need to focus on that.
I'd like to see the Warriors again in the finals and definitely not see the Spurs even if Duncan/Parker/Ginobili are a year older.
I wouldn't go quite that far, but if they don't get Aldridge or a suitable replacement, losing Splitter will hurt that team. He's an underrated, versatile big with good vision who kept the ball jumping when he was on the floor. If the Spurs don't get LMA I am absolutely not worried about them. It seems their time has passed.

The Spurs aren't going completely off the cliff as long as Duncan is still Tim Duncan... and he is still very good. But giving away Splitter and then not getting the guy they had pegged would be the first serious hit they've taken in a while.
