That's a team Deandre wants to go to? If they don't get you, they are ready to go into tank mode? Weird.

I guess I get it. If they got a player like Jordan, they likely believed they could still contend. Add in Matthews and looking good. Without Jordan, what realistic chance did they have to beat anyone in the West?

I had to look this up to see what it means...I feel old now
Man i remember surfing AOL in high school and looking for Akron rooms to chat in..good old days. I admit i put that a lot too haha

So are the Kings going to be halfway decent next year, provided they don't self-detonate?

I picture Griff and Dan in the Cavs office near the phoneline, having shopped around the Haywood contract, sipping fine wine as they wait for the dominoes to fall. Once Aldridge signs, the phone starts ringing.

Griff relates the proposed deals to his cap expert, and then proceeds to explain the financial situation to Dan while the other GM is on hold. Griff makes a recommendation and then Dan mulls it over, making any final decision.
....
Or Griff is sitting on his hands rocking uncontrollably while Dan shouts expletives.

Could be either one. No way of telling.

Griffin napping today?
WHILE SITTING ON HIS HANDS!!!

I looked at last year's free agency period, and very few deals were struck around July 4th. Only 7 free agents signed deals from July 3rd- July 5th last year, out of 110 people who signed new deals. People might just be trying to enjoy the holiday a bit with their families and take their mind off work.

Not sure if history supports this theory beyond last year, but it's something to consider. Last year, most of the deals happened either right away, or two weeks into free agency.

It's not like the Cavs have done nothing either. Re-signed Love already, and Shump.

Priority number one is taking care of our own guys this year.

Everyone else making deals thus far are trying to make a jump from where they were last year. We're not one of those teams desperately needing to make that jump.

Of course, free agency is also about the dominos. And last year, the biggest dominos took their good old time to fall.

James, Bosh, Anthony, Wade, Parsons, Hayward, Gasol, and Deng all waited two weeks.

Regarding Kings, on paper, a Rondo - McLemore - Gay - Boogie - WCS starting five looks good. The issue for them is they have two absolute nutters in Boogie and Rondo and one big chucker in Gay in that starting five. Add that to the whole tension between Boogie and Karl, it is a recipe for disaster. However, IF, they do click, I expect them to do well. They have a lot of talent and ability in that team. Just need to find a way to make it work collectively.
