Crap.

Spurs going with the Big 5 model I see

Spurs Cavs is all but guaranteed. Pretty pissed right now to be honest. Spurs are going to be unbelievably good. Only way I see them losing is if Duncan, Manu, and Parker finally start playing their age.

If the Spurs have the jettison anyone else (i.e. Diaw) to make space for Aldridge, they are going to be pretty damn thin up front. I wouldn't crown them West champs before we see what the final construction of the team is... obviously the starting lineup is pretty damn impressive.

This is about to be great for the West. Honestly I'm so bitter at all the shit talking from GS idc who does it, I just want a team to destroy them

That's the thing, they can just become role players, and still be damn good ones, while Aldridge and Leonard are the stars on this team.

They're going to dominate next year. I really feel we need to make the most of this Haywood trade, because the Spurs might be the favorites to win it all right now.

Aldridge is damn good, I've always thought he was better than people thought. Him and Duncan together is scary.

A little off topic - but this is exactly right.

Also, think of how much credibility Gilbert is getting with players for keeping Varejao on this team (and paying the insane tax he is prepped to pay this year). Any normal owner would have shipped Varejao off with our First round pick to Philly or some other bottom feed willing to take on a contract (even would have taken a bad $5M contract back in return). Not doing that is going to cost Gilbert maybe $30M this year.

But you know that Varejao is loyal to this team, and wants to be here, and Gilbert is paying out the ass for him to do it.

I respect continuity more than most, but I think trading Varejao would be wise. Players also want to win, and in order to win the owner needs to spend money prudently. The reason Varejao stays might be because no other teams wants to absorb his contract.

When you have the depth of talented teams like there is in the West, no surprise that the teams that are close are going to be aggressive in getting better. The same San Antonio team could probably not get over GS. This one might. Every time you see something like this you have to be happy that the Cavs are in the East. And it is also why the Cavs can't just be better than the other East teams they need to look for domination which will give them a shot in the Finals.

That would be a damn scary frontline with Duncan, West, Diaw and Aldridge. The only problem which they may encounter is foot speed when the other team goes GS crazy small.

Well, i don't think keeping Varejao around hurts you from winning (provided that Gilbert isn't saving money elsewhere in order to pay for Varejao). It's clear that you aren't going to trade varejao out and get a useful piece -- you'd probably have to send something of value out with him. But a lot of owners would have done that to save $30M
