whether or not Varejao is productive, we have much greater need in the backcourt, and probably need a stretch 4 more than a pick & pop/baseline guy like West. He's good, but doesn't necessarily fit, other than "bench points". It seems like we would be better served snagging a low-end stretch 4 for the MMLE and concentrating on a combo guard who can play D and a reliable 3pt shooting wing. Just not entirely clear where we're going to find those things offering little more than salary relief, MMLE or the Vet's Min.
The same type of bench points that the Warriors got out of

Speights - 8 points in game 1
Lee - 9 points in game 4
Barbosa - 13 points in game 5
Ezeli - 10 points in game 6

He is a player we needed in the finals. We do have more pressing needs at PG/SF but you will not be getting a player of West caliber for MLE/Vet min at PG/SF. Me personally I always seen that SF coming from the Haywood contract.

I seen you bring up similar D stats for West/Varejao but curious how much more of a drop off will you see with Varejao coming off his achilles injury? It is safe to assume Love will get injured or be sat out of games and I believe West will bring some much needed space playing with Thompson/Mozgov.

Games still have to be played, I'm not handing anything to the Spurs. OKC is still the best when healthy.

That West is ridiculous, we have it so easy.

In the word of Aaron Rodgers R.E.L.A.X. Parker, Duncan, Diaw, and Ginobli aint getting any younger and depth is getting worse. Didn't even get out of the first round this year. Aldridge makes them better no doubt but losing Splitter will hurt big. We can take em if they make it out of the west

Sure we can take them. I just think if everyone returned healthy we beat the Warriors in 5.

We beat the Thunder in 6.

The Spurs? Greg Pop who only lost one finals and the Heat needed every bit of luck as well?

Thats a toss up game 7 kind of series. Great for all basketball fans, bad for the heart for Cavs fans.

If we won this year. Sure bring them on. But I just want a championship. If the first one is the easiest road. So be it.

It's not that West is our insurance against TT either. Even if we don't re sign TT, we will still be able to easily match any offer by other teams. So we will end up with TT and Love anyway - which is a formidable PF pair. Not sure what we do with with another PF.

I'm surprised at some of the opposition to West here, especially at such a discounted rate as it would be, should he choose the Cavs. I realize we would have a nice plethora of options for rotating bigs if fully healthy, but what West offers playing off the bench is something that Varejao and Thompson don't. I just don't see how we could go wrong by bringing in West. If nothing else he is great insurance for a season should we suffer an injury to Love or Varejao.

Re-sign TT and JR.
Trade Haywood for a viable piece.
Sign Mo.

How are we not winning next season? It's ours!

Bringing in West makes that Diaw/Mills more possible.

hahah, losing Splitter hurt, but was easily fixed when getting Aldridge.

I am not upset, I think its fun. But unless they have a serious injury, they are going to be the team to beat.

And they didn't get out of the first round, in the West, in a ridiculously competitive conference, where everyone is separated by a game record wise.

It wasn't about them not getting out of the first round, as much, as them catching a bad break, and having to play the second best team in that conference (despite their collapse, the Clippers were very talented). And they got beat by a questionable call, arguably.

People ignore the fact the Spurs were NOT healthy last year, and they were still a game away from the second seed. That's what is frightening. When they finally got healthy, they showed how dominant they still are.

If we really wanted David West, we can offer more money than the Spurs.

I truly believe people are overestimating how many minutes we're talking about, unless you're not going to pay TT. And given our offense, it seems more prudent to save that $$ for a 3pt shooting wing (two please!) and a backup PG.

Darrell Arthur and Charlie Vallanueva are the kinds of players we're talking about, probably looking at vet mins or something near it.

I'd see if you could maybe snag Will Barton with the MMLE on a restricted contract if not that see if Stuckey would go for it.

I doubt Lou-Dub is available for that but you want him LONG before you want West imo.

If not you're probably picking among Wayne Ellington, john Jenkins, Alexy Shved

Charlie V, really? I think I just threw up a little:bad:

I'm pretty sure that West doesn't care for the difference if he already turned down 12.5 mil.
