Yeah, the other problem though is that a young, good, and locked in for cheap (in today's standards) isn't getting salary dumped.

I also don't think a sign and trade with TT makes sense for either side, since Phoenix just signed an older version of TT in Chandler (and don't make sense playing next to each other) and if we got Markieff we would have two power forwards more known for their offense and would leave only Andy to hold down the middle if something happened to Moz (unless we are serious about signing Kahn and believe he could be capable).

Either way, I would be open to adding him as a player because I like his game, but I just don't think it happens.

But on the other hand, it does give the Cavs some potential leverage with TT. Only Portland and Philly have the room to sign him to anything more than what he'd get with the qualifying offer.

Cavs could threaten to absorb Morris with the trade exception and leave Tristan on the outside looking in - AND without his Bird rights, that costs him big.

Alternatively, if TT really wants to gamble on a one year deal for a big payoff later, his QO x 1.25 could be traded for Morris, who's locked up for 3 years at a reasonable salary. He'd still have Bird rights with PHX. Cavs still save tax dollars from TT and keep the trade exceptions.

Again though, why would Phoenix dump Morris for what we could give them? If he was really on the market a lot of teams would be willing to give them more valuable picks and/or players than we could.

The twins could go to jail for a couple of years in which case the cavs would be paying him 8 million while he is cooling his butt off in the slammer.

The Cavs are essentially set to compete at the highest level in the NBA as soon as they complete signings of Thompson and Smith.

I don't expect them to do much anything else of significance in the off-season. The trade exception will be used in-season if a good deal becomes available or if we need help due to unexpected injuries. If not, it will be parlayed into the off-season and become a draft-night trade chip.

And that's just fine, we don't need to do anything. The focus I feel on the board has been too much about transactions and roster moves and less about what's going to happen on the court next season. I know that's expected because there's not much else to talk about though.

Agreed, but I think just a bit more emphasis needs to be put on securing a backup for Moz. Remember, insurance policy at the 5 was what we were scrambling for at the end of the last trade deadline and why we ended up with Perkins.

Kaun just makes too much sense to me, financially (he's been open about playing to win for less money) and from a personnel standpoint (former teammate of Mozgov/Blatt). He's easily the best option available at the moment and I have to speculate that the only reason the Cavs haven't gotten it done yet is because they'd like to be absolutely sure that it would be the best use of the remainder of their MLE. Sounds like a no-brainer IMO. Even without Kaun we still have one of the best front courts in the league, but he helps our depth. Sign him!

Unless Morris just tells everyone that he'll refuse to play unless his brother is on the team (in which case we still lose), there will be teams with more to offer Phoenix than us.

Sounds more like 'if he gets bought out we know where he is going'.

It is a rehash and old news. However I feel like we are his top choice as a team to play for and maybe a back up plan in case we do not retain the pipe... In other words he would fit perfect on our team.
