Cavs / Golden State Trade Ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I live in San Francisco and follow the Warriors very closely. I can tell you that they are not looking to do a straight salary dump. Nellie wants to win games in the short-term because he has a year-to-year agreement to be the coach. The man is too old for rebuilding years. Mullin has a great deal of respect for his old coach... in fact, I was fairly certain Mullin was going to get fired before he secured Nellie to fix the franchise. Mullin won't pull the trigger on anything Nellie doesn't want.

Now if it is clear that the team sucks before the trading deadline... Mullin might be more willing to move some veterans.

Re: Snow for Jackson on the table?

Wow, I TOTALLY forgot Andy. :chuckles: Someone else had him in a trade in the post below on RealGM, so I accidentally left him out.

Ilgauskas / Varejao / Perovic
Wallace / Harrington / Hickson
James / Pavlovic
Jackson / Gibson / Kinsey
Williams / West

That looks VERY nice, all the while maintaining our 2010 flexibility. The only argument I can see against is using our expirings for Jackson/Harrington, but I don't think that's so bad at all. That line up is very solid 1-12.

As far as us getting a #1, I don't see why. We're receiving 2 of GS's starters and they're receiving 1 of ours (if Wally is even a starter). You don't receive #1's for getting other teams' starters, when all you give up is expirings.

Just because they are starters for GS does not give them exceptional value. You still have to look at the stats and film and see they are just bench players for just about every other team in the league. Jackson would be best served as a 6th man much like Manu.

Well west would be byc so his contract would only be worth like half of what he gets. So say he got 4.5-5m we could do something like this.......

Delonte West
Sasha Pavlovic

For

Stephen Jackson

I see Harrington for Hinrich coming up, just like it was rumored so long ago.

I don't know why Golden State would do that. They just gave out $66 million dollars to Ellis, and now they're going to trade for a PG who is also making a lot of money? What do they do with Hinrich when Ellis comes back? I doubt Golden State does that trade, and if they do, then their GM is more idiotic then I once thought.

Looks like the Warriors are taking a look at Shawn Livingston

A possibility for the Warriors could be Shaun Livingston, who Mullin said the Warriors will watch work out on Thursday.

Livingston has recovered from his devastating leg injuries and is fully participating in basketball activities at Tim Grover's facility in Chicago.

Livingston is said to be looking for a guaranteed deal which the Warriors could theoretically give him if they waive either Watson or Summer League shooting sensation Anthony Morrow.

Mullin admitted that he likes Livingston's game and said the workout was scheduled long before news of Ellis' injury.

However, Mullin cautioned that the Warriors won't rush into any decision, saying "the one thing we won't do is panic or do something knee-jerk."

I hope Livingston get's picked up by some team. He showed real promise before that insane freak accident. A lot of people wouldn't have even of tried to mount a comeback, so I admire his passion.

that is an article on hoopsworld about the situation in goldenstate now with ellis out for a while. it doesn't sound like they want to trade anybody now.

"Without Ellis, the offense clearly is going to have to run through someone new; that someone is going to be the two-headed monster of Stephen Jackson and Corey Maggette"

"For Harrington, the beginning of the season may be a chance at redemption - after a poor, inconsistent campaign last season, Harrington has the chance to bring the point production that he is more than capable of bringing. There have been rumors that he may be traded, but Harrington was directly mentioned by Mullin as one of the players that will now be featured and will have to step up"

no good news for cavsfans who wanted jackson or harrington to come here

Re: Snow for Jackson on the table?

I agree, but most of the posters on their forum seem to think Delonte isn't the way to go. I'm guessing they don't see him as long term at all once Monta is back since they have Ellis, Bellineli, Azubuike, and Marcus Williams.

To me that looks like GS would have 4 SGs (Ellis, Jackson, Belinelli, Azubuike), and an unproven/bust PG (Williams). If they believe Delonte has proven he can be a quality starting PG from last season with us, maybe they'd want him and move one of the other 4. Ellis is an SG, I'd assume they don't even know if he will truly be as effective at PG anyway.

Well if they aint trading Jackson then we wont trade with them. Hes the only player we could even maybe want.
