Cavs Ticket Questions, Policies, and STH Concerns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My non-Upper Deck seats cost $300 a piece face value. Why would anyone sell their seats for less than face value?

Because some people don't understand dynamic pricing or how supply and demand works.

I'm dying for a WGU Meeting recap. Can someone who went take a few minutes and post some details on what we missed?

Screen renderings looked great. New LED boards everywhere.

Members only entrance to the arena, and concession lines.

Cavs app to debut Monday. Lots of cool feature like stats, replays, maps.

Member names are on the court in the All for One area.

I'm sure someone else will come in with more.

Nice, thanks! Any details on the kind of season ticket holder events and perks they're going to have?

Did they announce the promo schedule? WTF it was announced at the end of September last year…..

Why are you so concerned about it? lol.

It'll probably be announced sometime before the game on Thursday.

Cuz I collect bobbleheads and love Cavs trinkets for my "Cavs Cave" weeee

And if I somehow got a heads up to what games the giveaways are I could get the tickets before they get jacked up on flashseats…..

There is no rush for the Cavs to announce a promo schedule this year, because they don't need any extra promotion to sell out their games.

They have the option to arrange all of the promos according to other needs (brand tie-ins, television tie-ins, special guests, whatever). I'm thinking of the way in which they have all sorts of stuff going on for opening night this year. It could be more wide-open this year, compared to giving away a Varejao bobblehead to try to get fans to attend a Bucks game last year. We'll see.

Kyrie was the surprise guest. The Q announcers were the MCs, Gilbert and his two partners were there along with coach Blatt and Griff. They unveiled the new alternate uniform, boring and blue. Dan said it registered only about a 5 of 10 from the crowd reaction.

He said it takes many years--I think he said up to seven--to get new uniforms approves.

Good crows. Convention center was pretty awesome and very large.

One guy from the crowd asked coach Blatt if Kyrie will be dribbling less and passing more...coach Blatt defended Kyrie, said Kyrie was like a mystro mysician with the ball and stuff...

In addition to the occasional fantastic deals (the $50 ticket today, and similar deals in past days), it looks like purchasing has picked up somewhat but there are still thousands of tickets for sale.

Lower bowl tickets are generally selling in the $250-$600 range. Some sellers in section 108 got their max price at $1250, but that looked like an outlier.

Upper bowl tickets are generally selling in the $150-$225 range. A handful of sellers have sold for $100. Some choice upper bowl seats (upper bowl center, row 1 or 2) have sold for up to $300 but that has been rare. Some good upper bowl tickets have sold in the $225 range.

Other than a few sales, the best tickets in the upper bowl and lower bowl remain available. From the amount of people who have sold to lower bids, there are definitely willing sellers. But I imagine, as others have mentioned before, that many lower bowl sellers need to be blown away by an offer in order to sell. A lot of upper sellers have lowered their prices for not-fantastic seats -- seems like those tickets were purchased to resell.

New updates and an apology - I had an error in my calculations for average ticket price in my earlier posts. Numbers of tickets available and sold are correct though.

As of this morning, there's still 3288 tickets for sale. Average asking price $1,018.13. That number includes a ton of floor seats and outrageous asking prices for lowers. For Loudville only, there's 1409 tickets available, average asking price $365.11

There are 240 recent sales. Average asking price $286.73, average sold price $244.76. Looking at Loudville only, there were 183 tickets sold, average sale price $174.

Conclusions - There's still ~15% of the arena for sale. It seems like no matter how many tickets are sold, they're being replaced.

The tickets that are selling are being sold for around 85% of list price. Tickets that are still available are priced at double the average selling price.

As wuck mentioned above, there seems to be a lot of people who either don't understand the market or who dont really want to sell.

As far as anyone trying to equate "face value" to what they should get for their tickets, please look up "sunk cost fallacy". The value of the tickets is what someone is willing to pay - not what they cost the seller.

I haven't seen anything that indicates the market is tightening up. It looks more like it's finding its level.

Agree 100%. It's going to be weird however if we get to Thursday afternoon next week and there are 1,000 tickets for sale lol.

I have a buddy who lives like 3 hours away and bought season tickets simply to resell for profit (he is always looking to make an extra buck). When I told him that if he doesn't go to games, his tickets would be revoked, he got ticked. However, this is exactly what the Cavs are trying to prevent. Hopefully next Thursday night, there is not a single empty seat in the joint. Can't wait for this season!
