Chardon School Shooting

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't know if that's true or not (just like I'm not sure if a kid has really died yet although that is what I'm hearing from people back in Chardon that I know) it's just what I've been told through text by a few people...could just be a rumor. I hope so. If he really did post that shit on social media and nobody jumped on it, goddam..

I graduated from Chardon. My little brother goes there. Thank God he is alright.

Terrible. Nothing prepares you enough when this type of tragedy hits your community.

Just horrible. Grew up in Madison. Would have never thought something like this was possible.

5 victims. Shooter gave himself up to bystanders north of Chardon.

I'd bet money there were ignored warning signs on the parts of parents, teachers, and peers. Incidents like these do not happen in a vacuum, and there are almost always indications that something isn't right. For shame that this kind of shit happens anyway.

Right now we should be thinking of the innocent victims, though. There will be plenty of time later to throw blame around.

Let's hope it isn't one of those situations where there were a ton of warning signs and nobody acted on anything

Of course it will be. Any time the media/people at large have the ability to make a story like this fit a stereotype they are going to capitalize on it. People will go crazy over the fact that no one paid attention to the warning signs - drugs/wearing black/listening to *fill in any type of music teens listen to*, even though that obviously describes A LOT of kids. Even posting crap on Twitter/Facebook - guaranteed some angsty teen posts something EVERY DAY along those lines and nothing happens. Let's try not to blame and instead have love and compassion for all.

Just heard on the radio the Tweet thing is true..

I am guessing, but it sounds like Frank Hall, who is listed as a tutor, may have been the guy who chased the shooter out of the building. That guy may end up being somewhat of a hero.

I wonder how much of this has to do with social media from a psychological perspective.

I mean, in highschool I was an asshole. Hell a lot of people were assholes. But you went home and forgot about it. Played some basketball with friends, etc. Kids you didn't like, you just didn't talk to them.

Fast forward to today where kids can hate on people ad nauseum 24/7/365. You can't escape the psychological warfare. At this age you really don't know how to deal with it. Sure being a (relatively) mature adult, if someone hates on me ill just tell them to fuck off. But at this age, it's different. You don't necessarily realize how one kids opinion means absolutely jack shit.

I'm not saying that this is directly related to this incident... but guys, it's a different time and age today. I wonder how society is going to deal with it.

Jeez, Chardon is a nice little town out in the sticks. If it can happen there....

Actually, being out in the sticks hunting and such is real prevalent, so it is relatively easy for an underage kid to get their hands on a gun.

I've thought this before, and I'll write it again; teachers, after extensive background and psych evaluations, should come strapped to schools. Colleges, middle and high schools should be teeming with responsible, stable, and gun-toting teachers. Go over Dickens in the morning and put a bullet in the psycho student's dome after lunch. Real talk.
