Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

I would be fine with Whisenhunt as the coach but I don't get why we are not looking at Lovie Smith...

Lovie needs an absolute stud OC. I don't see one of those available. I really hope they don't go the Lovie route.

I can't believe Dungy is only 57 years old. He looks 80. Throw the house at him. He built Jon Gruden's Super Bowl winning Bucs team that all the Gruden lovers keep pointing to as proof.

Just for the love of god do not switch back to the 3-4. I can't go through that overhaul again.

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

Marc Trestman is not as much of a joke as bringing in a CFL coach sounds. He spent many years in the NFL and college as a Qb coach and OC. Everywhere he's been, the offense puts up yards and the Qb has his best years (including Kosar). Every Qb he's trained for the draft gets over-drafted. He became the Alouettes coach like 5 years ago, has won 2 Grey Cups and has went deep in the playoffs every other time. It's outside the box, but he's mentioned every year for multiple teams coaching vacancies. Ideally you would like to see him back in the NFL as a coordinator for a year, but I don't think it's a joke to name him as a candidate.

Mike Golic mentioned his name a week or so ago in relations to the Browns head coach. I wonder if him being from willowick has given him a few hometown sources.

Unpopular opinion time, but I'm glad we fired Heckert. Watching these playoffs has revealed that, in a draft that may have had three franchise quarterbacks (you know, the one thing every team needs to win a Super Bowl), we managed to draft the guy who's three years older than I am and decidedly not in that category.

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

I wouldn't mind wisenhunt. Since Warner left he's had Anderson, Skelton, kolb, and lindley at qb, along with a god aweful offensive line bad running backs and a horrible owner. He did achieve some great things while at Arizona. I have my doubts about him but I'm not thrilled with anyone else that is out there.

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

Trestman and Arians. Two former shitty Browns OCs. I like it! SIIIIKEEEE.

Why are we not hearing the name of Mike McCoy?

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

Marc Trestman...

This has nothing to do with him as a coach or whether or not I want him, but the only way I can describe this guy at first glance is that he just looks like a cock.

I have the urge to steal his lunch money.

But he's Jewish tho.

And RG3s knee just gave out on him which is never a good sign.

I for one, am glad we didnt tie up that many picks in a mobile quarterbacks bum knee.

I'd rather have a potential franchise quarterback than no franchise quarterback, which is what we've got right now.

Buuuuut Heckert didn't land RG3, that is obviously why he lost his job. :thumbdown

Should have at least kept Heckert, things wouldn't look as bad as they currently do..

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

Just because I change my name to Justin Timberlake doesn't mean I fucked, Brittney and am married to Jessica Beil. Keeping the name didn't give us the structure they had in place.

It doesn't matter. The Cleveland Browns are a franchise name and colors, thus the history associated with them goes where the name and colors go. The Browns are in Cleveland. The Ravens are in Baltimore. I really hate this viewpoint, it has never EVER made sense to me.

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

Anyway you look at it, Heckert did a good, if not great, job here in Cleveland as the lead on personnel matters the past couple of years. Plain and simple, the only reason he's not here is because Banner wants to maintain all power, which should concern all Browns fans. It'll be nice if we get a good head coach, but we have bigger issues now.

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

I'm still disappointed we let go of Heckert. And I also have concerns that Banner wants too much power and doesn't know enough to achieve it.

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

No idea if this was posted, but this is a short paragraph from Hensley's article on ESPN that names some candidates.

http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/62911/browns-look-bad-in-failing-to-land-kelly

What's next? Back to square one for the Browns. Get ready for the second phase of the coaching search that may include the likes of Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman.

Nothing ground-breaking or new really.
