Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

Lovie Smith- Major questions about his offense.
Nick Saban- Didn't do well in Miami
David Shaw- Heard they aren't interested but just resigned as well.

I'd prefer any of them over Whisenhunt though.

I think Gruden and Cowher are overrated and happy to keep doing what they do and preserve their positive images.

Arians just feels meh.

I think the Browns make a run at another college coach. They seem to like the idea of guy who built a program, created a culture as evidence by interest in O'Brien, Kelly, and Marrone.

You heard banner/haslam aren't interested in Shaw?

probably not. heard he has a huge buyout.

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

He epitomizes all of the traits I illustrated earlier.

I'm sincerely sad he isn't really an option anymore. He was my guy before the college season even ended.

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

He's 52, I'm not sure he wants the commitment of an NFL job, but hopefully Haslam makes a phone call.

Is 52 old? 52 is about right, IMO. Old enough to demand respect but young enough to be a long-term answer if things go well. Not to mention he looks 30. Guy still works out like he's a player. I'd love to hear he is even being considered. I'd have a lot more faith in Haslam/Banner knowing they're capable of turning over every stone. And I think he'd be crazy to pass up the chance of coaching in the NFL.

I met Shaw. He was running a football camp for kids around Palo Alto. His daughters were hanging around and playing. I was very impressed, but got the impression he wasn't looking to leave anytime soon.

The Eagles had a terrible line and still didn't look like horse shit compared to Arizona.

Vick was bad this year, but not Skelton/Lindley/Kolb bad. And the rest of the talent on the Eagles compared to the Cardinals? Gimme a break...Whisenhunt was working with straight trash.

As did the Packers and they made the most out of it.

Are you kidding with this? Having the best quarterback in the league, who is also mobile, goes a long way in hiding a bad offensive line.

If you can't see that Whisenhunt was working with a bunch of crap this year, I don't know what to tell you.

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

This year he benched Skelton for Lindey up 13 on the last undefeated team in the league. Even Shurmur wouldnt pull a stunt like that.

Yeah, because Skelton was really the second coming of Tom Brady.

Re: Browns coaching search *Chip Kelly out* post#1612

Yeah, you can do a lot when you have Kurt Warner.

You can do a lot when you have Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Aaron Rodgers.

What is your point? Do you really think a coach is suppose to win with John Skelton, Kevin Kolb and Ryan Lindley.

You are only as good as the talent you're given. It explains why Belichick was only a .500 coach before Brady. Look at the talent before judging a guy.

It explains why people like Norv Turner truly suck as a head coach when they're given the talent, and can't do squat. But if you're going to judge a coach on how he does with RYAN LINDLEY, then NO ONE is good enough to coach in the NFL.
