I'm just curious, why would Kelly go to Philly? That's the most mind boggling part of this whole thing. Philly has a GM, who has been terrible at his job, they have no cap room, and they have bigger needs than us.

Why go there over us?

Bigger city and gets more air time on ESPN and NFL Network?

On Friday night, it sounded like it was a done deal that the Browns were going to get Oregon's Chip Kelly. Nearly 24 hours later, there are increasing doubts whether Cleveland will get its top choice.

The Browns were set to meet with Kelly for dinner after his interviews with the Bills and Eagles. The problem is, Kelly's lunch meeting with the Eagles has stretched into dinner and the Browns have yet to sit down with him, a source told The Plain Dealer.

The NFL Network, which reported Kelly was close to a deal with the Browns, is now reporting that the Browns had a second interview with Syracuse coach Doug Marrone. He is probably the fall-back option now if the Browns are unable to get Kelly.

This is exactly what I'm thinking. It seems like he would have a lot more shit to deal with in Philly.

I'm sure the Browns would have signed Kelly on the spot if he agreed. I can't blame Chip for exploring his options. It would honestly be stupid of him to sign with us before meeting with the Eagles.

But its the Browns job to do whatever is necessary to get that deal locked up before he walks out the door. He was supposed to meet with the Browns tonight, but the Eagles are trying to do everything they can to lock him up before talking to the Browns again. And if they do, congratulations to them. They did a damn good job

Thats just not how it usually works. Andy Reid didn't listen to any other offers after the Chiefs. I don't think Harbaugh listened to any other offers. I can't really ever remember a coaching search going quite like this.

Reid was fired though. How many teams were knocking on his door? Kelly is a hot commodity right now. If I was in his position I would have honestly done the same thing.

I stand corrected, Jeff McLane of Philly retracted his statement. Apparently they are still in the meeting. However he based his correction off of what Cabot had to say.

Bad idea. There is a kids movie called "Blank Check" - the kid who signed the blank check turned out to be the guy on the right. Don't want Chip Kelly turning into a convict because he signed a blank check!

I know the movie well. Loved it growing up.

I cant figure out what would be so great about philly. McCoy, Jackson, then what?
