Any writer needs an audience worthy of them and you guys make me want to be better.
Yeah would it be creepy to want to organize a night out for Chris Parker? Especially if the Cavs were to somehow win it all. Pick some bar in Cleveland have a bunch of RCF people meet and chat with Parker, buying him and whoever he comes with drinks and food. That seems creepy and pathetic? Ok my bad.
I'm only running part of the quote in today's column, but here's the full quote w/r/t iso, despite success, needing to be tempered lest it lead to offensive stagnation
"A lot of times when you get into that kind of situation via an action. If you know Synergy they will qualify something as an ISO purely from the fact a player might hold the ball for a certain period of time and then make his move or go from a certain spot on the floor. But a lot of times that comes from actions to get them in that situation because those are the things that perhaps that player does the best. We do take advantage of it because we have great one-on-one talent and we use it to our advantage. But I don’t think we lack in ball movement or assists or creativity for the team. I think we’re doing pretty well in that area too."
We felt he might be squirming out of the question, so we asked more directly. “So are the two things unrelated, or just unrelated as far as to how your team plays,” we asksed.
“Oh, they’re related, they’re related,” Blatt confessed, then pleaded to PR Chief Tad Carper. “There he goes making me think hard before a game.”
Nice. Kind of what I was saying over in the Blatt thread. ISO's aren't inherently bad. They are usually a result of player/ball movement and do represent a designed play.
Putting players into ideal ISO situations is an aspect of smart, efficient offense.
