Status report: The impression they're giving is that they're a much better team than they were last season, but they have the same record as they had one year ago when they folded in the late stages of the season.

Concerns: Free agent signees Damon Jones and Donyell Marshall have not lived up to expectations, and Drew Gooden could leave as a free agent.

Most likely to be traded: Jones. The self-proclaimed world's best shooter bombed when he went into the starting lineup in place of Larry Hughes, and the fans in Cleveland don't like him. There's a market for a player who made 225 3-pointers last season, even if he's made only 79 this season. Gooden is also being shopped.

He also did mention of Brevin Knight possibly being moved to the Cavs. Devean George, Flip Murray and Tony Delk.

Why trade anyone at this point? We'll soon be healthy and this team w/o a doubt is better then last year's team: see LJ4MVP's thread for a better discussion of this.

I want to see what Mike Brown can do with the dare I say plethora of talent before giving up on anybody. Remember, it was Gooden who kept us in the game against the Nets early while Lebron was cold. Don't trade anybody right now IMO

If the right trades come, you make the move. It's all about making this team better, whether it be November, FeBruary or July. If we find a taker for Drew who returns a need, make the move period. If someone is desperate enough to want Damon and give us something in return, you're stupid to sit idle if it enhances our team. We dont have to be overly active in moving players, but we cannot sit on our hands just because we won a few in a row.

What the right trade though? We're 27-17 despite major injuries and not being healthy year round. Jones fits a need and when Hughes comes back it's not like we'd have to play him major minutes. Most of the trades for Drew that have proposed on this board we get raped in the process.

Supposed Needs:
Backup C: AV and Henderson - check
Backup SG: Sasha - check
Backup PG: Improved Jones, Returning Hughes - check

My position is we only trade Drew if we know for sure he is leaving next year and we aren't getting anything back for him. Otherwise give this team a chance to gel

So Pioneer, do you see this squad as the one that will lead us to a championship? Is Drew Gooden going to handle the middle? Is the Eric Snow / Damon Jones combo going to work over the next couple of years? I could go on and on....

I am not saying revamp this team totally. It needs cosmetic changes in my opinion. We need a quicker point guard who has some ability to penetrate, and Hughes is not that guy. We do need a banger inside who can spell either Z or our power forward, or even step in and start if injuries occur. Henderson has been a decent stopgap, but thats all. Varejao is not starting material at present. Marshall has slowed and also is best suited from the bench. So there is a gap in our rotation.

There is no need to force a move. We just shouldn't be ignorant to think that we are there, or will be when Hughes returns. I'd like to get something for Gooden, as I believe we'll have to overpay to resign him. I'd like to move Jones and his 3 other contracted seasons. I wont make any trade for the sake of it, but we do have a future as well as a present.

no, no, no. we should not make a trade after establishing a seven game winning streak.

yes, we have had probably the most injuries of any team in the league and we are just now starting to get out players back even though hughes is still on the shelf. and yes we have probably had the toughest schedule in the league up to this point. but we should not waver now against the trend to trade away players before the dead line. we should keep the horses that brought us here in mid stream.

we should add players who will help us but we should not trade any good players away.

AV Yes, Henderson no. Henderson is a power forward playing center. We shall see how we do against Shaq tonight. I think you will see the need for a bigger body than we have.

Sasha-Luke-Ira-Jones James in a pinch, We do not need a 2 or a swing man. Talk about JR Smith is more about his depressed value, which some see as opportunity to swap him for Luke. I support this in that JR is more likely to contribute than is Luke. He is pretty much Larry Hughes, while Luke is Sasha with less game experience, and we already have Pavs...

Point guard- Niether Snow, Nor Jones, Nor Hughes, Nor Wilks is our future point guard. Banks and Daniels have a shot at it, but Duhon is what we want.

I agree that a trade on a 7 game win streak is tough to justify, but still, if the right trade is there, you take it.

Gooden is gone after this season as he will want paid, and he deserves to get paid. But we will have Donyell, AV and Marty next year to name three (this year we can use Henderson as the third guy). If you can get a Duhon for Gooden you do it, especially if you can wangle a decent wide body in the deal. Jones, while improving, is not a factor in the win loss column and niether is Luke. So look around and see what you can do. Don't give them away, but see if there is something that makes sense.

We also have to recognize that other teams will not sit still. Both New Jersey and Philly made major moves at the trade deadline (Carter/Webber) last year to launch a drive to the playoffs which put us out. Our acquisition? Jiri Welsch... Indiana has already made its move, and I see Philly if not New Jersey doing some fine tuning this year.

Exactly ootbttnlagitnbasf! We should be looking to trade Ira for Terry. Henderson should get us Haslem. Wilks we could shift away for a late first round pick.

Chris Anderson might be available?

I like Flip's game - he can get on fire - he's kinda what I hope Wagner would have become. Not sure if he would fit though.

I still think one of the Denver PGs could be had - I saw discussions on the guys in Minnie.

I hate to say this - but now is the perfect time to move Sasha - IF and only IF the right deal is there. His salary is low, so we could bundle him with one of Drew/Jones/Marshall for some very good quality in return. In return, I'd want a banger and a 4 tool player in the backcourt - can handle, defend, dish and score.

It seems like no one will ever be happy with our roster until we win a championship, or sign someone to a huge contract.

Brevin Knight....no thanks Tony Delk....nope Flip Murray....not a good fit Devan George....now thats an interesting idea, good shooter and can play some defense and shoot well, wouldnt mind given Luke and Ira but i dont think LA is stupid soo......Any way Karma is right, we have a nice team but we DO NOT have a championship squad, not yet at least....if a deal opens up for Jason Terry we have to jump on it or maybe to a lesser extent Chris Duhon (but not for Gooden)....Gooden will most likely be gone in a sign and trade (for Jason Terry...i hope) and our MLE will prolly be spent on a banger type PF for defense and Rebs

No, we just need a real PG.

Snow is a good PG and he has a role here, but we need a PG that can create...Jones is a role player and its sad he got that contract, but he is nothing more than an 11th man to come in and shoot every now and then.

Our bench depth is terrible..we dont have a real starter at the four. Gooden is ok..but he is a free agent at the end of the year, wont be worht the contract and really doesn t fit our system anyway. Sasha is solid, but after him, there is nothing but a whole bunch of suck sitting at the wings...Luke just isnt ready yet, Newble is done, Jones is one dimensional. Wilks is an OK PG for depth...we dont have a back up C or bruiser like Karma said..

this team has a lot of holes, it cant be fixed at one time but if you can get rid of useless parts like Newble, Jones or move a tradable asset like Gooden for good talent, you do it.

gooden and luke for Flip(proven scorer off the bench) Reggie (banger defensive rebounding pf) and Vitaly(backup center to get some of Z's mins down)....but we would have to sign flip and reggie to new deals in the summer. Who knows guys I really dont see us making a trade but if one comes at us that knocks Ferry off his feet im sure he will pull the trigger

We should trade next years #1 draft pick for Jiri Welsch.

I heard he's a good shooter and can play some point. Despite struggling in Milwaukee, playing next to LeBron should make any player live up to their full potential.
