So, I read that Snow's retirement thing can't happen until a year after his last game (which I believe they said was Feb 22nd or so). That is right up to the trade deadline and the Cavs can still trade him. Well, if the OKC's season is in the crapper, they may be looking to move some players. Wilcox may be one of them. Now, his deal is around 6.7 million and expiring but a straight up trade for Snow who will be making 7.3 million could be possible.

Why would the Thunder do this? They could immediately retire Snow after acquiring him and save a million plus like nothing. Moving and building up a new franchise is expensive work and if you aren't in contention, why keep around guys that aren't going to do you any good in future?

Why would the Cavs do it? Obviously, it is like a free player. If JJ Hickson still needs time to iron out his game, Wilcox could be a good filler for the playoff run. He is an athletic, active scoring big man. Run him with AV and you got a nice backup big man tandem that could give you an energy surge.

Now if Wilcox kills it this season, then OKC may want to keep him. If they get a better offer, they may want to keep him. Even so, seems feasible to me. Doesn't hurt us long term, gives us playoff depth and Wilcox has facets in his game we currently lack in our front court.

I highly doubt that the Thunder would trade away a solid player like Wilcox just for cash relief, but i would be all for throwing in a second round pick. Wilcox would be a great addition to our Front Court and would probably start soon after we added him (unless Wallace has a revival or JJ steps up in a huge way)

I would be more than willing to pull this trade: Wilcox for Snow and a Second Rounder
or even
Wilcox for Snow and 2 second rounders

To anyone who is hesitant to ship of two picks: Let's be honest, it is seldom very hard to attain a second rounder on draft day when you want one. look at this year, we managed to attain two...

Well, from what I know about Wilcox, he isn't exactly a heady player or a defensive beast. To some, this may look like the second coming a Drew Gooden but with less of a mid-range jumper and more a driving game. I have my doubts about him starting. He would have to learn the system and be solid on defense. Plus, he may amount to no more than a rental. It would all be in the spirit of winning now.

I don't know how second rounders (probably very low) are the swaying point in any potential deal. Even you said...they are easy to get. A couple of 50-60 draft picks aren't going to be any sort of factor.

Like I said, the reason OKC would do it is because they are young franchise and saving a million or two goes a long way, especially if there is no reason to spend it. I have no idea what the Thunder think of Wilcox. I know the fans are not enamoured with him. His game is flawed. He is not a gauranteed starter on most contending teams. He is also an unrestricted FA and there is no telling what other teams will spend on a young big man going into his prime. If history tells us anything, he will get overpaid (Can you say...Nene Hilario?)

But maybe he is in OKC's plans, they can still make just as much of run at him as anyone in the offseason. Only disadvantage to them is if he is seeking a max contract...and is that really a disadvantage?

I think so, but if is a possibility, it would only be for a playoff run. If he stinks it up, we won't want him back and if he does well, he will most likely get a payday from another team that we can't and wouldn't match.

Seems beneficial to all. Can anyone tell me if I am missing anything?

If jj hickson can become our starter in his second year, taking a 1 year rental on wilcox wouldnt be a bad idea, imo.

If we really wanted Wilcox, we probably would have found a way to include him in the 3-way when we got Mo...

Wilcox is a solid player but I really want to see what we have in Hickson before we go out making a move for a big men..

Plus, I don't see Wilcox giving us anything we need... We don't need another complete dumbass like Drew "No good" Gooden,..
