So, I read that Snow's retirement thing can't happen until a year after his last game (which I believe they said was Feb 22nd or so). That is right up to the trade deadline and the Cavs can still trade him. Well, if the OKC's season is in the crapper, they may be looking to move some players. Wilcox may be one of them. Now, his deal is around 6.7 million and expiring but a straight up trade for Snow who will be making 7.3 million could be possible.
Why would the Thunder do this? They could immediately retire Snow after acquiring him and save a million plus like nothing. Moving and building up a new franchise is expensive work and if you aren't in contention, why keep around guys that aren't going to do you any good in future?
Why would the Cavs do it? Obviously, it is like a free player. If JJ Hickson still needs time to iron out his game, Wilcox could be a good filler for the playoff run. He is an athletic, active scoring big man. Run him with AV and you got a nice backup big man tandem that could give you an energy surge.
Now if Wilcox kills it this season, then OKC may want to keep him. If they get a better offer, they may want to keep him. Even so, seems feasible to me. Doesn't hurt us long term, gives us playoff depth and Wilcox has facets in his game we currently lack in our front court.
