CJ Miles & The Cavs Option

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: CJ Miles is *Allegedly* Elk Shyt (12-13 poster boy )

Sometimes I wonder if Miles and Waiters have a contest going to see who can take the worst or dumbest shots each game. Don't know what the hell they're thinking on some of these attempts.

If they do Miles is winning by a wide margin.

If CJ could just stick to shooting when he's coming off screens or on kick outs ...

But he can't do that. He's never been able to do that. He shoots as soon as the ball touches his hands and he even has a whiff of being "open."

They really at times take some awful "wow" shots. I call them that because you say WOW when they knock them down and also when they brick them up. Dion still has time to unlearn that that bad habit. With CJ, it has become an "it is what it is" sort of deal. It can be especially frustrating with both of them to because they'll take these shots when they could get a far better one with just a few dribbles. They BOTH have fade fever though and both should square up more on their shots.

Which means either Byron has to take him to the woodshed *OR* the other guys have to stop passing him the ball early in the shot clock.

Or we sit back and enjoy the tankage ...

That's basically it. If you pass CJ The ball on any sort of fast break and he doesn't have a lay-up, you can guarantee a bad shot is coming almost every time. When he's hot, no one cares. But his career shooting numbers tell me that more times than not, he isn't hot.

The streak lives! 4 games, no assists!

On thing i noticed with our team in general is that we aren't so very good with moving the ball. We've also started to fall into the Lebronization of things with Kyrie as guys will sit around and watch him isolate. Part of the problem is we DO move the ball but it ends up going to a wide open Tristan who can't and won't shoot the ball. CJ can pass the ball but you've got to get the entire team to understand moving the ball creates better shots for everyone. That being said, some of the plays where CJ shoots are specifically designed for him to shoot the ball without considering passing it.

This is when I need some no name assistant guy to do hours and hours of research to find out the longest streak in NBA history where a guy records 0 assists while playing at least 20 minutes each game.

We are now at 5. This is awesome.

Yinka Dare?

Why don't we just go by most minutes played in a row without an assist?

I have noticed this too. We stop the ball too much. Dion especially sticks out in my head as someone who catches a pass and instead of moving immediately and taking advantage of a defender off balance, he will wait to make a move until the defender squares up against him again. Though, more than just Dion is guilty of this.

Hmm... Basketball reference has a streak finder, but it only goes back through 2007.

Serge Ibaka and Sam Dalembert have both gone 24 games without an assist but with at least 1 FGA.
Thad Young went 6 games without an assist but with 10+ FGA
Hasheem Thabeet went 42 games without an assist

As for Cavs, our top guys for games without an assist are:
Leon Powe 31
Jawad Williams 19
Darnell Jackson 18
Tarance Kinsey 17 <-- WHICH COACH THOUGHT HE COULD PLAY PG?!?!?!
Tristan Thompson 14
Samardo Samuels 13
JJ Hickson 13
Ryan Hollins 12

So, CJ has a ways to go unless we through in some qualifiers.

If we cut it back to players who attempted 8 FGA, then we've got:

Big Z 8
CJ Miles 5
Tristan 4

At 5 FGA, CJ pulls in to a tie with Christian Eyenga.

At 4 FGA, JJ enters the picture with 6 games, and Joe Smith is also ties with 5.

At 3 FGA, Samardo stands in his way with 7, and Tristan with 6.

The thing is, most of those guys are front court players. When looking at back court, we have Kinsey and Miles, but Miles isnt close to Kinsey bad.......yet.
