I think the Indians just simply forgot their American Express cards
In all seriousness though, have you ever seen a team go from this good to this bad overnight? I really can't remember a swing ever happening this quickly in a season. We were up, what, 6 1/2 games in the Central going into that Boston series on May 23? In less than a month, it's been a 7 1/2 game swing in the division. 6-14 over the last 20. After having the best run differential in the league for the first month-and-a-half of or so of the season, we've had the worst over the last month. Obviously they jumped out to a ridiculous start, and I never expected them to keep up that pace for the whole season, but I also didn't think they'd fall this low for an extended period of time.
They desperately need Hafner to come back hitting like he was when he got injured. Then again, with how terribly Choo and Santana have continued to hit the ball, teams will likely just pitch around Hafner if he's hitting well at all. They can definitely still recover, and even with how poorly they've played over the last month, they are still only one game back because of the great start.
