Maybe there is something to the idea that the Cavs need spacing (outside shooting threats) for Sexton to move the ball. That was true of his time in college.

Anyone else notice the bandage on Sextons right wrist/arm yesterday? He seem to be dribbling alot with his left hand yesterday.

Him being an 8th pick is irrelevant to how good he is.

He's just not good and that doesn't require mentioning where we got him in every conversation when you care about how good our players are.

If its expected that the guy is shit because 8th pick =foregone conclusion then you should have taken a shot at mpj

Expecting every 19 year old to come and set the world on fire as a rookie is a mistake. MPJ is 6 months older and has major back problems. Multiple teams redflagged him medically during the draft.

Sexton has shown flashes and is raw but that's really not that shocking. To call him complete shit as a 19 year old is a mistake. He's a project playing with terrible talent and ball hogs around him. If you expected greatness year one that's your problem. Is he going to be a franchise player? No but he can be a starter if he is developed properly down the line.

The first puck we have in a rebuild you wNt to draft a 20 year old with serious back issues ? Brilliant

Whats brilliant is picking up a guy who can't play defense or pass or score efficiently or dribble over a guy who's 7 feet tall and can shoot and move with the ball.

One is garbage, one can be great. This is pretty uncomplicated.

You've heard of Joel embiid right?

Because players don't develop right? Cause Sexton is raw their is no chance he can develop into a player? And because Embiid came back from serious injury concerns means Michael Porter Jr. will do the same. Hindsight is always 20-20 but compared to those drafted in the general vicinity as Sexton none of them are setting the league on fire.

As for passing he gets a few passes every game where his teammates just don't make the basket or they fumble the ball when they get it. No rookie is perfect some players take time. Sexton will take time but he is an explosive athlete who has improved on his 3 ball this year and has shown some flashes as a passer. Its not his fault his teammates suck. As for being an inefficient scorer. Better percentages then De'Aron Fox last year with more volume. But Kings should have cut Fox since he sucked as a 19 year old NBA Rookie right?

What’s frustrating is the 8 pick in the draft is always a stud from the get go. See oladipo and Kemba

Good point but Dipo was pretty much always the 2nd best player in his (weak) draft class. It's just that at one point he was 2nd to the hyphen, then he became 2nd to Greek Freak.

It is 2 years early to judge Sexton. Anyone who says otherwise is ridiculous. He just turned 20. He is on a shitty team. He has done some things well. And some things he needs work on. Let him work on it what is the rush ?

You don't get to be the worst player on the court on a regular basis and demand everyone else be better.

He has a big off-season coming up.

I don't disagree, but Burks and Hood are literally poison in the starting lineup. Prefer Nwaba or Payne. Anything to increase ball movement in the SL is awesome in my book. A guy that can spot up from 3 as well would be a godsend.

Was Sexton demanding other’s “get better”? If so, I agree. However, as a 19 yr old 8th pick in the draft, he also shouldn’t be expected to instantly be the best player on the team, or even a stand-out as one of the best. IMO, all we can ask is for growth and potential, which he has shown (unless your standards are that he not make the same mistake twice).

A couple other things:

1) I vaguely recall reading somewhere that he decided to play basketball later in his college career? That could be wrong.

2) I don’t know the history behind 19 yr old 8th picks and what kind of numbers they put in the context of their “team’s overall talent”, but if anyone has some stats to throw out I am curious.

...he’s no Doncic, but maybe a ________?
