Was Sexton demanding other’s “get better”? If so, I agree. However, as a 19 yr old 8th pick in the draft, he also shouldn’t be expected to instantly be the best player on the team, or even a stand-out as one of the best. IMO, all we can ask is for growth and potential, which he has shown (unless your standards are that he not make the same mistake twice).

A couple other things:

1) I vaguely recall reading somewhere that he decided to play basketball later in his college career? That could be wrong.

2) I don’t know the history behind 19 yr old 8th picks and what kind of numbers they put in the context of their “team’s overall talent”, but if anyone has some stats to throw out I am curious.

...he’s no Doncic, but maybe a ________?
Where he was picked has no relevance in regards to how good he is

His stats are all bad

I think as far as #2 he wasn't even on anyone's radar until he was a junior. He just decided he was going to do it and worked to make it happen.

A guy who has shown he can improve himself like that is something you can't measure.

People keep saying he has no skills, but he has been a better shooter than people expected, he just isn't taking the shots the metrics like. Seems like he is fine on the catch and shoot 3, but needs more confidence in his pull-up 3.

Just give the kid a chance. Let him develop. He was 19 year old 8 th pick on the shittiest team in the league. He is the one who should be pissed. Not us

I'm not expecting him to be the best player on the team. He's currently the worst player on the team and he gets minutes solely because of his age/contract/draft position. And yea, I do expect better than that.

The eye test and advance stats say he fucken terrible, what a wasted pick. We should have picked SGA instead of this limp dick midget. Also fuck his dumbass hillbilly rat tail.

He is not the worst player on this team, not even close. He might have the worst statistical ratings but what merit does that actually hold when youre assessing a rookie pg on a team thats won 9 games.

How can we assess his point guard ability when we have probably the worst system/staff in the league with a horrible assortment players that dont fit together, when every pass to Burks, Clarkson or Hood results in a iso dribble move, mid range or drive into traffic.

How can we assess his ability to score efficiently when on every drive the defense can afford to collapse and help due to lack of shooting and player movement.

Collin is literally built to fail on this team. Especially while still in his first season, feeling out the league etc. A lot of people need to reassess their expectations of Collin.

I want to like the guy - hell, I want to like anyone who plays for the Cavs. Still, he's the worst defensive player in the league statistically. For a guy who came out of college known for his toughness and defense. He can kind of shoot, but he has about as much touch around the basket as I do. Gerald Madkins had more upside than this kid.

Are you guys insinuating that the Cavs front office blew another 1st round pick? If so, I don't believe you. We are great at drafting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another Gilbert pick. When will the man let his front office pick players.

He was the guy pushing for all those players.

This is very incorrect.

There is plenty of information available about all of those picks. None of them were a "Dan Gilbert pick," but by all means, insist on your narrative.

Dude definitely meddles more than most owners, but to insinuate he's made all of the Cavs draft picks is false.

He openly admits he has to get better on defense. He will even brings it up without a direct question where he messed up on defense in post game interviews.

I do think he still has a ton to work on as a player but he does look like he is working on getting better one aspect at a time. He is taking more 3s and his passing is alot better. I think he has started getting better at setting up the offense and getting most people to communicate with him on the floor. He has to get back to consistently scoring like in the beginning of the season.

The only confirmed guy that was Dan Gilbert's pick was Kay Felder. It was also a pick that he straight up bought and basically over paid instead of waiting for him to 6 spots to get him for free. Gilbert paid 2.4 million for the 54 pick in the draft.

Sexton was 100% Gilberts pick.
