Corey Coleman

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That sounds like a shitload of work to look up if you're narrowing it down to solely first round picks. It seems like a meaningless distinction at any rate, as guys develop at different rates regardless of their draft position.

All I know is that it's generally acknowledged that WRs can take three to four years to break out. If they don't break out by year four, you can usually chalk them up as busts. It was the 2014 draft that kind of screwed up everyone's expectations for rookie receivers, as that one had several guys who were year one stars, which is rare.

You also have to account for the fact that it's not as if Coleman was garbage. When he played and got a decent number of targets, he typically had good games. He just missed a ton of time with injuries and had to deal with very inconsistent targets and QB accuracy when he did play. There's a big difference between a guy who flashes talent and has a bunch of good games his first two years and a guy like Mike Williams who had 95 yards his rookie year (and even him I think it would be foolish to give up on already).
It is. I’ve heard the 3 year narrative for over a decade and don’t get it.

He had flashes which is a reason why I would have kept him to see if he made that 3rd year jump.

Wasn't Coleman's knock out of college that he basically ran go routes? Hue's offense was alot of go routes. I wonder if Todd Haley's offense asked more of Coleman's route running and he just couldn't pick it up.

Just with how our depth was last year at WR would have been reason enough for me to keep Coleman and see how he developed in year 3.

How could anyone have thought we’d trade Coleman for a third when we only gave up a 4th to get All Pro Jarvis Landry?

5th is a best case scenario. 6th is more likely

Right, I’ve been hard on Corey. However, being a guy who has been injured a lot and had a large adjustment to make upon entering the league, I would have given him a third year.

There really was no incentive to trade him for nothing or cut him.

Hence, I’m curious to see what the compensation is. It may be slightly better than we think to cause this deal. Otherwise, why not give him a third year based on how thin our receiving unit has been?

Weird, half those years were under football guys.....
I never cared about the fake "Sashi vs football guys" meme. You either are good at evaluating talent or you aren't. Sashi sucked and so did every GM before him in those years.

It’s less-so that he would warrant a third, but more-so that I don’t understand our incentive to deal him right now for anything super late.

Could’ve happened in the season. Could’ve happened when Gordon was back. Could have happened next offseason.

There’s zero reason to deal him right now unless we received over what we thought he was worth.

Lessons I've learned is trading down is fucking suicide and cowardly as fuck.

Don't "@" me.

who is doing that?

I thought you were dealing out a passive-aggressive comment towards people who lament Sashi's 1) failure to build anything at all; and 2) protect him as if he did something very well.

Unless the kid was just an absolute asshole to deal with, I just don't really understand unloading him for basically nothing.

He was young, cheap and still had some upside.

I think your first statement may be what the deal actually is/was.
