Daniel Gibson: Thug Angel

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
One bad year doesn't condemn a guy. I think Gibson, at the right price ( a small price), could still make an impact with the team. He could play with Waiters on the second unit and really add an offensive punch and defensive point of attack if he gets back to form. The only concern is size, he can play with Waiters but probably not with Kyrie for long stretches. We still need a bigger two guard on the roster that can come in a defend and shoot.

I'm not changing my name either way though :D

Right, in the same boat as Gee.

Playing a limited role with better players around them, they could be very effective.

I don't why we wouldn't keep him for a minimum contract. I expect the team to be much deeper next season anyway. He still plays both ends of the floor which is saying a lot for this year's team.

He's 6-2 on a good day, can't handle the ball, gets injured every year, regresses skill-wise every year, and is a blatantly overrated defender. He drives into the paint and teams back off him because they know he'll miss the layup.

He needs to go.

His most recent right elbow injury came when he simply was doing push-ups in the weight room recently.

Daniel Gibson can't even do push ups without getting injured?

He's regressed for 3 straight seasons. All his shooting numbers have dropped from the previous season over this last 3 years and his primary talent and contributions are supposed to be as a shooter. This should be the prime of his career too.

Had a few good moments here but like myself and others have written before, it's best for both sides to move on.

Unfortunately Boobie's career peaked as a rookie.

That is an interesting point. How many other players in the NBA can say their best year was their rookie season? I've never seen that happen before.

Well...it isn't really true for Gibson. He barely did anything his rookie season except for the Detroit series.

He actually played really well for about 11 games or so when Mo was out. I do remember that.

And the last home game of the season vs. Philly, we were resting our starters, but if we won we would have gotten the best home record of all time...he scored something like 26 points and actually showed good handles and fakes and more than one dimension to his game...

ThInk the Cavs had someone named Cedric Henderson who scored less points in all of his consecutive years. Started out decent and kept falling apart.

I think the injuries just did him in. You could see glimpses of an improved game thru the years but just when it looked like he could put together, he'd get hurt season after season. Sometime the injuries just accumulate and you can never get back to the same athletic level even though you "heal" up. Hopefully a guy like Kyrie takes care of himself so he doesn't go down the same steps

The dude gave his heart to this organization. He was plagued by injuries. And he has serious limitations as a player. But to me, he's been a class act throughout all these twists and turns. I'd like to have him back as a vet, provided he's a 10th man. Gotta wish him well wherever he ends up.

The problem was that many of the "injuries" didn't really seem like injuries that should cause someone to miss sooo many games. And then you had the countless games missed due to personal reason. Stuff just added up to much over the years.

Staying healthy is a skill that can be tracked just like shooting, ball handling, etc. Boobie is really poor at this.

Boobie resurgence with the rehiring of Mike Brown?

Sadly it's a real possibility that we might keep Boobie now, just to have another player who is familiar with Mike Brown's defensive system.
