pretty good game by blatt. kept love on the bench when he wasnt contributing. hopefully he isnt afraid to do the same to kyrie.

unfortunately the guys that brought them back in the game were just too tired to finish it. blatt just simply doesnt have the depth right to work with

The only good part about Blatt's game today. What other things did he do well?

Who on this roster right now is the answer to other team's athleticism? We have the least athletic roster in the league without Lebron, Shumpert and *gulp* even Marion.

Just about every rotation player outside of Mozgov is a guy you would typically try to hide on defense. When the other team is more athletic at every single position there is no rotation that makes sense defensively. The Cavs are always at a disadvantage from that respect.

I want someone to explain to me the rotations Blatt must use with the current injured roster to make this resemble a decent NBA level defense. Keep in mind that rotation by necessity has to included several of the following:

Kyrie Irving
Kevin Love
Matthew Dellavedova
JR Smith
Tristan Thompson

Mike Miller
Joe Harris
James Jones
Brendan Haywood

Bad/Below average NBA defenders are in blue.
Non-NBA level defenders are in red.

Clearly a competent coach sits Mozgov and Love for Jones and Miller in crunch time.

Blatt's out of excuses, if we don't obliterate the Lakers I think it's a rap.

Get out.

+/- is the most useless and lazy stat in existence.

riiiiiight.

must be a coincidence...

here's a thought - go check what markief morris did against love vs. against marion/jones/anyone else - which basically forced blatt to play with another forward - jones - because the only alternative would have been love at center, and i'm guessing you'd be the first in line to whine about that if it happend...

How many coaches will it take for Kyrie to play hard defensively and change his selfish game, that's my question. The same shitty habits have reared their ugly head, how long can you pound the ball and realize your selfish play does not work. He makes the game harder on himself by passing up good shots and dribbling to take a bad shot, tired of it.

This loss was on him. The team was rubbish in the first three quarters but once LeBron and JR managed to tie the game, his rotations were what cost the game. James Jones is a good pro but he can't defend or create. Whats the point of having him on the floor when the game is tied? If the Cavs were trailing by ten odd points, it would have made season but with the game tied, he goes with James Jones? Ridiculous Decision.

Games like these are what would happen in play-offs and his rotations in the last few mins of the fourth quarters have been dreadful. I was willing to give him time but the more this is going on, the more I feel, he just isn't the right coach for this. He will be a good coach elsewhere like Jason Kidd, with a young team where he has a lot of time to learn as well as coach with less expectations but not a team like Cavs who are vying for championship.

Okay.

kevin love +/- -20

james jones +/- +6

James Jones replaced JR Smith on the floor, not Kevin Love. JR Smith was absolutely on fire and you replace him with a guy who hasn't played meaningful minutes in a few seasons. I mean, what the fuck is he thinking? And I have been an avid Blatt supporter thus far, but enough is enough already.

Just rereading this thread, what a disappointing impulsive Gilbert move after all the hopeful posts. Guy looks like he needed a couple of years on the bench.

Did we not just trade for Mozgov? Mozgov in, James Jones out.

And by the way, Morris scored 11 points in the fourth so....

Chill dude, Jones had a +/- of +6. It's all good.

How much better would this team look with rondo at point? I really liked Blatt coming into the year, but if they don't do something fast this franchise is going to suffer badly for a loooong time.

He has to go. This team is out of time. If they can't turn it around, this experiment will die a quick, but extremely painful death.

We would look awful by firing him, but we already look awful anyway.

If the problem was only getting them to buy in, but his in-game decisions have been one of the worst I ever witnessed (and we had Potato Head for 6 years).
