David Blatt is a former NBA coach

On one hand, I feel like we're having an elongated version of Miami first 20 games in 2011 and the ship can absolutely be righted in a way that results in wild success for everyone.

On the other, when it comes down to it, it's about the players. This is not a young losing team that gets a new coach who has full authority over them and can yield the hammer when needed.

This is one true superstar and two "should be" superstars/"think they're" superstars who more or less are going to decide whether they let a coach actually run the show.

So if LeBron(especially) and Love/Kyrie are already "over it" and "mind made up" with Blatt in a negative way, than f**K it, might as well just get the inevitable out of the way.

But if they are just frustrated and trying to figure things out in general, neither being 100% behind the coach or 100% against the coach, than I still lean towards to side of giving this full roster 10-15 games to get their sh*t together(and that include Blatt) before making a change.

But its really all on the players in terms of how they feel about the coach and while we all see the games and play amateur psychologist with effort, expressions, etc. do we truly know how they feel?

I also might add that these players have never won, they've basically played for stats.
Their attitude at times dismays me as I don't see any of the Cavs take a hard foul or even a charge anymore.
It may be more internal then we think..but I would think this team has lost so much they don't know how to step up their game.
Now I'm wondering the same thing you are, is this just that these guys don't know how to play together, or is it Blatt?
And lets say they do let him go, who else is going to come in and suddenly have these guys balling?

I think Lue calls every single timeout other than the standard TV timeouts. They must have some sort of agreement that Lue do that. I have only seen blatt call timeout after Lue has already done so. Its really bizarre.

I think it's pretty clear that Love and LeBron do not respect Blatt. Nothing else to be done but relieve him of his duties. This has happened for 3 coaches in a row now. I feel bad for Blatt as he was most likely powerless from day 1.

It would be odd Lloyd included it in his column if that were the case.

Blatt's been a head coach for decades and it would be unheard of for any head coach, even at the high school level, to acquiesce on making the decision when to call timeouts.

With LBJ firmly in his corner, I am sure Lue as taken more than few liberties this year. Blatt did not hire him and he is the heir apparent if Blatt is relieved of this duties.

Blatt is a dead man walking.

If they go 0-2 to finish out the trip, I would not be surprised if they did not let him on the team plane back to Cleveland.

I feel bad for him, but he at least deserves some of the blame. His rotations have been wildly consistent and ineffective. His offense has been unimaginative and certainly hasn't properly utilized Love. He just doesn't seem to have a feel for the NBA game at all. Basically, every one of our biggest fears about hiring a coach who has never coached at the NBA level has been realized. I honestly don't know how that's even possible, but it's what has happened.

Yeah, he's been kind of screwed by injuries, but man...you can't go like 1-8 without LeBron when you still have Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving. And you certainly can't get blown out five games in a row.

I'm really hoping we won't look back at this as hiring Mike Brown essentially for the third time.

Pressure's really on and things aren't looking good. Almost apathetic towards the season now...

Blatt is going to have a lot of regrets once he loses this job. Mostly, he never stood up to Lebron or challenged him, he just rolled over. And thus no respect from Lebron and hence he breaks plays, does what he wants because there is no one on the roster or in mgt to stand up to him.

Same old shit, just 5 years later. Never thought it was going to be like this.

After watching this team w/o LeBron, LeBron breaking plays and carrying the team might be the only way Blatt remains an NBA coach.

But isnt this the reason the Cavs brought in Assistants w/ NBA experience to help Blatt with all this? At some point do we hold Lue, Drew, etc just as accountable as Blatt? Now, I'm not giving Blatt a pass at all, a ot of what he does is head scratching. Is he stubborn and not utilizing the experience he has on the bench with him or are these assistants in over their heads as well?

This is what I don't get. Of course Blatt's going to have issues. But it doesn't look like anyone is helping him out. Unless he's too arrogant to listen? What I imagine happening is that LeBron's little posse, including the coaching staff minus Blatt of course, is whispering and giggling behind his back, wanting him to fail. That's what it sounds like to me.

I deal with this sh*t at work all the time, only it's with all women, so I am well-versed in it. People want you to fail. Looks like they're going to get their wish.

Definitely deserves some of the blame. He's been dealt a rough hand this year, but we can't go on like this.

What I think is really the underlying issue, is that we do not have the personnel to play as Blatt is used to and wants to play. It won't work here b/c it's not Europe. I'd venture to say if you could pick his brain, he'd tell you that the 2 leagues are more different than he realized. NBA egos are something.

Uh oh, Slammin Sammy dropping some criticism of Blatt and sticking up for Love...Must've gotten the green light from Griffin.

I really cannot stand The Bullshit Whisperer's 10th grade style of writing. At the end of that piece, he says he's been covering the league for 20 years. How the hell does someone write for a living, and still put out crap that sounds like he's in a high school English class?

I don't know either...Lloyd's final thoughts>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The Bullshit Whisperer's random dribbles. My hunch, guys that like to suck up get quick promotions/inside gigs. Sam is basically Griffin's mouthpiece.

Blatt had control over a team full of (crazy?) russians. I guess LeBron is on a different level than russians.

Where is this guy?!

MIA...

And I'll rephrase one of his famous quotes:
Wake the f*&# up!
...and man-up before it will be too late! Or is it already too late?

I don't recognize the man and I hope he will look in the mirror this morning and he will say to himself:
"I don't have what to loose because I already lost the team, it's time to be myself and take control of this team and lead it like I know, I can't walk on eggshells anymore (egos of the NBA's players)..."

This is his only chance and if he will do it and be fired at the end I'll support him 100%, but right now it's difficult to support him because he is not really here - not with his presence, not with his leadership and not with his system.

Wake the f*&# up!
