David Blatt is a former NBA coach

The whole coaching philosophy on this team is puzzling. Every timeout, our 4 coaches meet together in a little circle and appear to "talk it out" while our players just sit on the bench waiting for orders. What the hell is going on in these little pow-wows?

If Blatt is such a great coach and a proven winner, he needs to take charge of this team. The fact he has to discuss every timeout with his coaches before talking to the players baffles me. Correct me if i am wrong but I have NEVER seen another team coached liked that.

The whole dynamic is befuddling.

I gotta say it too, even if it sounds dumb...I'd take MB too. I could NOT handle Mark Jackson - he's just more problems that we don't need.

MB is a familiar face and knows the ropes - even though he's lame. HA. However, I highly doubt they'd go that route again.

I'd like George Karl, he'd be my top pick.

I don't think Karl is interested in joining a team as a head coach mid-season. He talks about that a lot on ESPN and ESPN radio.

Given a chance to coach one of the best players in the NBA might change that tune. Teams with the talent ours has typically don't have coaching openings mid-season.

No one would ideally want to come in mid-season and coach with these HUGE expectations.

Luckily, our record is so bad that even a marginal improvement would be a success story.

Want to give Blatt a chance, but a larger part of me now longs for a coach who knows the NBA in and out.

Like a George Karl. At least that way we'd know the coach knows the league, all the ins and outs. Been there, done that.

If the team still struggled, at least we'd know that wasn't the cause.

right -- what you imagine. When are people going to stop making up crazy conspiracy theories about how everything is Lebron's fault and just pay attention to what is happening on the court? There's enough to worry about there.

Yep. LeBron was gone 8 games, and they were the worst team in the NBA during that stretch.

Instead of getting Love more comfortable and KI clicking, they sucked up the joint.

That's coaching at some point.

That's you being hopeful. I'm just echoing what he's on the record saying.

I know. My point was that typically the teams with mid-season coaching openings are the types of teams that aren't terribly desirable to coach. Our team doesn't really fall into that grouping.

"He's gotta learn the league, I don't care where you've coached. Basketball is basketball but the NBA is different" Mike Brown on Blatt....how does this clown know the nba is so much different than any other league in the world? where else has he coached? It is so annoying hearing people just throw out this blanket statements about leagues in europe (they cant even name the league so they go with "europe"). it was the same crap when guys like Vlady Divac entered the league. These talking heads just cant handle people from other countries being just as good at coaching or playing in the nba as them. let the whole team play together for a while before we go nuts

KBIZ - you realize pretty much every coaching staff does this during time outs. IF you watched the heat over the course of LeBrons tenure there you would have seen it pretty much every game.

I agree with Brown though. The NBA is different, and I think we're learning that watching Blatt try to coach. Do you really think there is no relationship between the way he sticks untalented, sub-NBA players out there for extended periods and the fact that he has coached for decades in leagues where most of the players were untalented by NBA standards? There are things he could get away with in other leagues that he can't get away with here.

How much more rope do you give Blatt? Dan isn't known for his patience and he knows a lot is riding on this season in terms of risk with LBJ and love both free agents.

I have to give it to Blatt. I didn't like the james jones sub in the closing lineup but that takes some balls to bench Kevin love in that situation given what's been going on lately. Either he is just stubborn or doesn't give a damn at this point what people think about his minutes management.

Wasn't impressed with the freelance offense down the stretch either. Felt like it was 2007 again with lebron doing pick and roll over and over. Even if we won, that's not a sustainable formula.

That's what he's doing. He's basically putting players out there like they all do the same thing, like they all serve the same purpose. That explains the crazy rotations. At least IMO.

the talent level does not matter b/c its all relevant to the league you are in. you think him having his 10th man on the court in "europe" is any different than having your 10th man on the court in the nba or having your 10th man in on a high school team? i think he is playing guys like james jones b/c he is trying to find something, anything that works. i know he is having issues right now i think my point is more about the talking heads in sports are making him out like he is some bum b/c he coached in other countries in the past
