I know it's premature but I think David Blatt will go down as one of the greatest coaches of our era. Didn't fully realize it at the time but we really got a steal with this guy. Such a great game manager and just really knowledgeable.

I was confused as to why so many fans followed him to the Cavs but now I know why lol. The guy can really coach.

His effectiveness will be determined by whether he can get klove quality touches and guard penetrating slashers. Those are the two major themes of this year.

I remember when Broussard or someone else was saying that the Cavs hiring Blatt would hurt them in getting LeBron. Yeah...no.

Not only can he coach, he seems good at managing personalities. I really like this guy.

What stands out most to me about Blatt that never happened w/ any coach post-LeBron area... He has control of this team, he has their respect, they listen to him and trust him (it seems). No doubt LeBron has a little to do with it but I have a really good feeling about Blatt. I love looking at the sidelines during a preseason game when we are up 10 points with 2 minutes left in the game and Blatt is over their getting pissed after a turnover or allowing an offensive rebound :chuckle: It shows you his fire and passion for the game, which rubs off on our team. Man oh man did we make a bold move signing him, and it should reap large benefits.

Blatt already knows Windy's name (3:14)...this bodes well for a direct pipeline for info, therefore good for us. :celb (15):

No. His effectiveness will be determined by whether we win games. Doesn't matter how he does it.

Blatt seems like the most professional coach we have had in a long time. For someone who is new to the league he just seems to know what he his doing.

It seems clear to me that he's the type that will never stop teaching. No matter how far ahead we are, who we're playing, or whether we're at game 1 or 82, Blatt is going to be teaching/tweaking his team. Seems to me that in past years, the "teaching" aspect went out the window once the game started, which may be why we never saw the level of progress we wanted. Blatt seems completely focused on constantly getting better on both ends of the court. via constant communication/instruction with his players.

I like how last night Austin commented about how Mirotic wants to go left, and by the second half guys were forcing him right and he did nothing rest of the game. Does Mike Brown make an adjustment like that mid-game? I don't ever remember anything like that.

Did mike brown know any player as well as blatt knows mirotic?

Only in jest, I too notice continual adjustments. I think we might actually have a coach on our hands

It appears he has already gained the respect of LBJ. I was at the game last night and they were constantly talking during game stoppages, i.e., players at the free throw line. Lebron was always within earshot of Blatt, regardless of what end the players were on. A lot of nodding, pointing to spots on the floor...teachable moments happening between the two of them.

I wish i could've heard what they were saying but you can tell Blatt also listens to Lebron. It was literally like watching a coach and assistant coaches discussing plays, not the typical Mike Brown "hey good job Lebron" buddy-buddy look.

I find myself wondering if the game turned into to iso ball screen stand around in the second half by design from blatt or if LBJ and Kyrie made the call and blatt allowed them to have the ownership of the offense?

I can see the benefit of letting the players make the calls and then using the film session to break it down and teach afterwards. I hope that was the case, you could use that game tape to teach quite a lot about shot selection and offensive flow
