Dawg Pound among top 5 landing spots for Michael Vick in 2013?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't have that evidence because whatever evidence I show is not going to support your hypothesis of Vick being an average QB at best.

I continue to argue that the Setting (team) plays a large roll in the Set (player). I've supported my argument with a bunch of different facts and ideas throughout the thread and I have no urge to do so again.

I want Vick over Weeden.

Ask yourself this question:

Which of these sentences is more likely to be spoken from Chip Kelly?

I want Vick as my QB

I want Weeden as my QB

?

Let's see if Kelly is the coach first... And if you're willing to give Vick a pass for a system which doesn't fit his abilities, you owe the same to Weeden, a rookie who had to deal with Shurmur. Reid is 100x the coach Shurmur is.

If Kelly isn't the coach, it better be Dungy, Cowher, Gruden, or someone better.

I'm not willing to wait any longer, honestly.

IMHO, Vick is definitely a better QB - no doubt - than Weeden is.

Coaching aside // Vick > Weeden

I think Vick hasn't been in the best situation yet.......and conversely, the best situation for Weeden will be nowhere close in terms of maximum potential/output as it would with Vick.

Career-wise? Very likely. As far as over the next 3-5 years, it's impossible to say. Keep in mind it takes 2-3 years for most QBs to adjust to the NFL, and if Weeden took a significant leap in his sophmore season, he wouldn't be the first.

I agree with the posters in here who say Vick is a known commodity. We know what he brings. Conversely, Weeden is still a bit of an unknown. Regardless, if Kelly is the coach, we'll know if he believes Weeden can be the QB by April.

One thing to keep in mind is how shallow the QB pool is going to be in this draft. Barkley was a big deal coming out of high school, but I have doubts about his durability. This Glennon kid who backed up Russell Wilson until 2011 at NC State seems to be a prospect, but he isn't very polished. I think this is the year free agent quarterbacks break the bank. I don't know if the Browns want to get into a huge bidding war for retreads.

If he hasn't done it yet, when will he? He had six years in Atlanta where they were able to build a team around him. During that time he had two playoff wins, a QB rating that hovered around 75, and a completion percentage that peaked at 56%.

When he went to Philly's pass-happy offense, he had one very good year followed by two mediocre ones.

He just isn't worth the money he will command.

His circumstances (injury prone, turnovers, mediocrity) would be deemed advantageous in a negotiation wouldn't you say?

About 16 months ago, his agent was able to secure a six-year, $100 million contract.

I don't think he is going to command an absurd amount of money that Mr. Haslam wouldn't mind paying - but that's just a guess.

I mentioned how deep those divisions were when Vick played with Atlanta and Philadelphia (not to mention looking at it with our young talented guys compared to some of the pieces that were around him then). I also mentioned that he is officially off of parole now (woohoo!) as of Nov. 2012.

If you put Vick on this team in 2013....they are clear favorites to win AFC North next year, IMO. Lewis retires, Flacco still Flacco, Rothberger still a burger getting old as the rest of their team, there's more of an emphasis on fast-pace explosive offensive players and less on aggressive hard hits to shy away from hurting said players........Bengals Browns rivalry for the next 5-10 years.

Yeah but that's because he called Saul.

....

At this point I think I'm just trolling. I never thought it would come to this. I am sure his agent knows Mike has seen the end of excessively lucrative contracts.

*waves little white flag*

Instead of a pay to have a dog fighting incentive, I think the Browns should put some nice bonus incentives - in cash value - if Vick goes to pro-bowl, super bowl, etc :)

Also had Andy Reid coaching him.....and had Jeremy Maclin and Desean Jackson.

Reid just got canned.

Jackson missed 5 games.

Vick had no offensive line and was banged up all season.

Honestly (and I can't believe I'm saying this), Vick probably had a worse situation than Weeden did in 2010.

Problem is, Vick is always banged up.

He's been sacked more often in past seasons than he was in 2012.

Vick

2012 - 10 GP, 28 sacks
2011 - 13 GP, 23 sacks
2010 - 12 GP, 34 sacks

Weeden

2012 - 15 GP, 28 sacks

Weeden

He was sacked 2.8 times per game in 2012. That # is way up from 2011 (1.8), but is identical to 2010 (2.83), when he had a QB Rating of 100.2. So what was the difference between 2010 & 2012?

He's also been sacked more at other points in his career (He was sacked 3.1 per game in '04, and 2.81 in '06).

As I said, he's been sacked more often in other points in his career, including the season where he posted his career high in QB Rating (and it's not even close).. So why the excuse that he had no protection in 2012, when it obviously didn't hinder him from posting great #'s 2 years prior?

Vick has one good "year" in his career as a passer, and it was a total of 11 games. He's also the active leader in fumbles. And he's getting worse.

If you don't want Weeden, that is fine. I am not sure he is the answer either. But Vick is NOT the answer. Period.
