Diet and Workout Routines

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Weighed in this morning..
185.6lbs and 17.3% BF at 5'9

Over the summer I was like 195 18.5%, but i just now started taking my diet seriously. I feel stupid cuz I could be at my goal already if i just took the shit seriously. Oh well, I feel great and get better every day so thats what is important

Curious--how are you measuring your body fat? Do you have a scale that does that? I've been looking for a way to do it at home that doesn't require me pinching myself with calipers. I hear ya on the taking the shit seriously part. Keep it up.

Thanks! Hope I can motivate someone else too. I just use a scale that measures it via electricity, it was like $35 from Kohls and is worth it. It may or may not be an accurate number, but it changes when im in a caloric defecit for extended periods of time and corresponds to the mirror, so it works as far as im concerned

If you want a specific model I have I can let you know, but i figure they are all the same. Id get one on amazon and probably save ~$10 if I were you

Get a tape measurer, plenty of more accurate ways to do it

For time being, I will try the tape measure technique. However, I am all for just standing on something and being given a fair approximation. I may hold off on buying a scale for a couple of months, just one more thing to drag along during a move to who-knows-where. (Maybe back to Cleveland area.) If I can find one for 35$ I will be more than happy with that. I am curious to see how the two--the tape and the scale--will correlate.

Unfortunately, most of my fat isn't well distributed and sits in mid-section. Two skinny legs and a bulge resting on top of them. Well, stomach is trimming down, but I still would like to drop 6-8 more pounds more to the 7 already dropped. My goal is 2 pounds a week, which is easily doable if I can keep on top of calorie count.

Edit addition: Found a few tape measure methods, with each having me measure different body parts. The results vary by about 2%. Part of that might be due to measurement error or where fat is primarily stored on body. Nevertheless, the results were in the ballpark of where I expected them to be--18% to 20%. Shooting for 14% by the end of April.

Thin crust pizza + coke + DQ Blizzard and i still have haagen DAzs in the fridge! Somebody come home and slap me before my binge eating makes into Blob 2.

I'm making cinnamon roll pancakes, tomorrow. I don't need to be slapped for it. I just know my workouts are going to be insane.

cheating during march madness is the best kind of cheating

no regrets

So, after 10 years, I've finally quit smoking.

I have always lost weight in the summer, and gained weight in the winter... but that is mostly because my diet drastically changes between the seasons. I did occasionally work out in the summer, but my smoking hindered my progress because I'm more of a cardio guy than a weight lifting guy.

I just joined the company gym less than a mile from my work, so its very convenient to go and I have been going 3-4 times a week. My lung function is amazing now. But my diet still needs some adjusting. I work out in the morning and crash a lot during my workout. Not surprising, as my breakfast before my workout is woefully insufficient.

What would be a good morning breakfast in terms of protien-carbs-fat ratio before a morning workout? How many calories should I eat? etc? Any help would be appreciated.

My cheat day with the cinnamon roll pancakes was phenomenal, at first. After consuming them, I felt awful about eating so badly. So much so that I didn't eat anything else for the remainder of the day. I was very sluggish.

Today, I did a 30min workout that worked the entire body with 3 cardio sequences mixed in. I pull muscles all the time.

I was thinking of getting some Casein, but I was told that cottage cheese was a better option, except that I don't think I can eat cottage cheese everyday. I'll try it and see how that goes.

Casein is OK, its not gonna change your body over night or anything. You can mix your protein with whole milk to make it digest longer if you wanna be cheap.

Just saw a friend on FB buy a fucking "7 day fast kit" of just shakes for $75, dropped almost $400 on "healthy" foods and signed up for 2 months of zumba to prepare for a 10k....... just eat less and run more. That $600 could have been spent on bad ass running shoes and some headphones and would get you much farther than a week long liquid diet and all the gimmick foods that say "buy me im healthy!" on them.

I ever have a ton of money to blow im gonna start an infomercial telling people to just eat less food if they wanna lose weight, and then explain how calories work. so many people get suckered in to shit, myself included. hate seeing it.

What do ya know! another week of counting calories and staying a deficit and I lost fat!

Now 180.0lbs 17.0% BF, so down .6lbs and .3% bf from a week ago and thats with messing around on the weekend and drinking a ton of beer (damn winking lizard 32oz beers)

Yeah its a small amount but thats what it takes to maintain muscle and lose weight. I dont think its just a water weight fluctuation because I was in a caloric deficit 5/7 days last week, and may have been in one saturday as well. Hope everyone is sticking to their plan, happy hump day!

^A loss is a loss.

I'm not a calorie counter. For the most part, I eat relatively healthy. But I don't own a scale, so I couldn't say how much weight I've lost.

Your suggestion of protein and whole milk-- Whey x soy milk is what I've been doing. But I'll go the cottage cheese route.

Yeah some people are good with portion control and whatnot and do fine without calorie counting.. i am absolutely not. If I dont at least get a ball park going in my head, ill easily eat double what i should

Some people have a hard time putting down 2500 Cals in a day, i could do 3500 pretty easy... comes with the territory of over eating your whole life lol

I've been slacking on my workouts. But my eating has been really good.

I woke up this morning with this pain in my hip. I must have aggravated a muscle sometime during the week. Pretty severe pain. Took me over a minute to get out of the bed. Walking is almost impossible. Took an Advil and waited... Much better. I think the fact that I put heat to the area, last night made it worse. And I should know better. If it persists, then I'll have to ice it. This is the second time this has happened.

But, I made a friend of mine some cookie dough... She's been sick lately, and she's not making the effort to come get them. Since I'm pretty immobile right now-- my biggest issue has always been sweets. I probably won't get them to her until next week. Having them in my refrigerator is a big problem.

DQ prices are outrageous. Ice cream is a weakness of mine but I just stopped going there for the most part, it's like almost $5 for a Blizzard now days. Same price as a meal at other fast food.

Not that I really eat fast food anymore. Had Taco Bell a couple weeks ago for the first time since I got shot. It DESTROYED my stomach and I was in pain for about 5 days. Yeah, no thanks.
