There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing gloves....

None of what you said above is true if you have a good glove.

Bottom line is, if you have a good glove and you grip the bar correctly, you will be in good shape.

If you have weak wrists, you need to find out if you are using the right form before you get straps. If wrist is locked, form is good, etc... get some straps when you lift heavy. Dicks has good ones for around $20.

Bottom line is, I wear gloves. Always have. I can't shake people's hands with jacked up hands. I rep 3 plates on the bench, never have gotten a blister, have zero issues gripping the bar. Chalk is the most asinine thing in the world, one of the two gyms I go to actually bans chalk, it's worthless. (unless you get real sweaty hands, then I can see the point of it)

literally every competitive lifter uses chalk

And literally everybody on here is not a competitive lifter.

If somebody on here is benching 500lbs and needs every advantage possible, I would give more weight to your reason. But outside of people with really sweaty hands, your every day gym goer has no use for chalk.

all pro basketball players wear basketball shoes, but none of us are pros so we shouldnt use basketball shoes when we go play?

just because you dont like it doesnt mean its stupid.. why the fuck wouldnt you want a better grip on the bar?

As for whoever said have fun at the gym, I agree. I wish I had a person to lift with but I am not going to go ask to join one of the "regular lifting groups" I see everyday I am there. I just put my headphones in, look at yoga pants and workout/run. And for any straight edge Sally's who say looking at the women in the gym is creepy/wrong, most of these girls do it for the attention. Wearing tight ass pants/a shirt that could fit my bobblehead on my desk, you are begging to swim in the drool. Also, I don't want you thinking I am Stanley Ipkiss in the Coco Bongo Club, but a quick glance keeps me motivated. No joke.

You can lift with me at the UT rec ;)

Haha, I don't even know if my Rocket ID would even work anymore there. You can come to a bar Sunday after the race and buy me a beer. Or I will have my girlfriend buy us a beer :noevil:

I'm totally opposite. I'd much rather lift by myself. One, I enjoy listening to music to get me going/motivated. Two, there's just something about me where I love the me vs. The world kind of thing. Idk...also, there's always people in the gym that I run into on a daily basis that I can bullshit with.

So I got some bluetooth earbuds. Love em. But for how much I flip em on and off I've been thinking about getting some bluetooth headphones. Maybe some Beats Solo2's. Anyone got beats or any other suggestions?

I just got these Bluedio TS2 (their revision to a really popular headphone). Crazy cheap for how quality they are. Some parts are really light weight plastic which is a little sketchy but the hinges are metal and the controls work flawlessly, and if i turn up the bass on my phones EQ you can get em to bump. Havent tried them in the gym yet though, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q2VIW9M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

my hands are sensitive. I wear gloves. No point giving yourself a reason not to workout and be uncomfortable just for the principle of wearing gloves.

I couldnt get my shirt on just now. When I finally did, It was backwards. I couldnt get it off. UNtil I did, then I punched a hole in my door.

Just went to the gym for first time since Halloween. My wife walked by me every 10mins and just laughed at me. I think my heart rate during cardio was at 186 at one point. She thought she was going to have to get the defibrillator off the wall and shock me. :chuckle:
