Diet and Workout Routines

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Today I did my first kickboxing session with one of my trainers. I've had gloves and wraps for years and I've never used. So, he did the wraps for me.
Our session was 30 mins, but I was exhausted after we were done. Losts of jab cross, round house, upper cut, and kick combos. At one point, it felt like a mortal kombat fatality combo that took me awhile to get used to. I have burns on my elbows from uppercutting the bag. My trainer specializes in Kickboxing, as he does compete. Sometimes he'll come in with a black eye from a fight the weekend before.

The one thing aout working in a gym is that you get some members (older ones especially) who question if and when you work out. I've had 2 members in a 2 week span ask me "Do you ever work out here? I never see you working out." I'm either in a team training class. working with a trainer, spinning, or I do my workouts in the caged area or an empty studio. If I'm not working with a trainer or taking a class, I like to be very much incognito within the club.

Took a couple months off for softball season. Just had alot going on so I decided to just hold off. I'm glad because now I feel more motivated then ever. Felt great getting back in there today and hopefully I don't lose the motivation.

Do you guys do anything with your broccoli? Looking for a way to spice it up a bit.

The Chinese fry it in batter and 5 spice, but probably not the healthiest option :chuckle:

Those little sliced almonds, or any other nut really & dried cranberries. Don't add too much as it can significantly raise the cals/sugar. But a couple in there can add flavor shots, like gushers.

My favorite, which is what I do sometimes with edamame beans as well, mix em up with a bit of lemon/lime juice, sometimes even some orange juice. Pepper, no salt.

Sounds weird, but do peanut butter, water, a tiny bit of soy sauce (don't need a full tbsp.) lemon juice & red pepper flakes. mix all that shit together really well and toss it in cooked broccoli. There's a recipe somewhere on the internet I am sure.

Or if you really can't stand it, chop up your broccoli real fine, either by your own chef skills, or a mini blender/chopper & use it as a bed for your chicken, or mix w/ quinoa/brown rice & chicken. It is more appetizing that way as you don't have to chew the stalk, as much.

Or just be a man like Dave & Aux and chop it really, really fine and snort it or inject it straight into your blood stream.

Last option seems best fit for me

Hey guys this has more than likely been asked before but my intern is blowing me up about Advocare. I was wondering what your feedback was on these products, i honestly dont feel like putting the time in to read up on it all.

My gf's sisters husband does that on the side to his personal training gig. I know a few people that make $100k+/yr doing that BeachBody coaching/It Works!/Advocare shit. The key to it was starting early when NONE of your friends/co-workers were all about it. Then you can reel in all of them. Now I have ~20 people I know doing it. Too built up.

But for a product standpoint, it's not bad. For the little jug of Rehydrate, I think me & my gf pay ~$40. The ONLY reason I have it is that it significantly helps with hangovers. Better than Gatorade, oranges, bananas, other products that "rehydrate" you. I am sure you can use it for other reasons, but I use it strictly for bad hangovers.

Spark isn't bad either. It is basically C4 but the Advocare drones will tell you that it is wayyyy safer and healthier than C4 and other products. You will pay more for it. I basically stick to C4 if I ever need a heart murmur.

My personal opinion is it isn't worth it to go all out and buy all their products. But if you are still a person who can drink heavily/get hangovers real easy, I would look into getting Rehydrate. Before you buy a whole thing of it though, ask your intern for a sample of Rehydrate & Spark. They get loads of them. If he says he doesn't have any, fire him. Go out one day and get smashed and the next day mix the powder of both into water & drink it. See if it works for you as well as it does for me. Then go from there.

Last year this time, came in about 165. Returned to grad school. Didn't buy a scale. Didn't do jack in terms of exercise. Diet wasn't great, but not horrible. Visiting sister now. Stepped her on scale. Shit myself. 20lbs heavier than a year ago. I knew some pounds were coming back on, but christ. Will walk more to school regardless of weather. Trying out the 5 day fasting mimic diet, in addition to cutting out some of my carbs. I've already begun to modify diet after passing kidney stone in June (which was bloody painful, much worse than bladder stone last December).

There is a guy at my gym who gave me a sample of Spark. I'm always looking for a new pre-workout that doesn't contain Beta Alanine. The Spark worked out well. I asked him where could I get more... And that's when he went into the whole Advocare speech. He told me "You can do it too, if you're looking for a side job." Yada, yada, yada. Yesterday he left me a packet on the desk about becoming part of the Advocare company.

I did look up their product reviews- it reminds me of Herbalife. Long term usage caused colon problems. I'm not a constant pre-workout taker anyways. I just want a box of the Spark without having to go through a rep who is just trying to recruit me. I may just go back to Iron Pump. Plus, it's a conflict of interest when working with the likes of Advocare/Herbalife.

We do have a few HerbaBros in the gym. They would come all decked out in their Herbalife gear. The soul purpose for them to be there was to try and get people into the fold. They have many memberships to many gyms.

Anyone taking any daily vitamins that they would care to recommend?

Spark is fine, and it doesn't make you want to shit yourself like every other pre-workout supp (probably the beta alanine). The AdvoPeddlers won't say it right away, but Spark does contain 20mg of caffeine; which is fine, but just for the interest of full disclosure I wanted to inform.

That said, most of the other AdvoCare is crap, in an overpriced container. Protein powder is garbage, especially.

Anyone who hypes advocare as a legit supp source loses tons of credibility IMHO. Like I said, Spark has a ton of flavors, tastes good, and is fairly effective; however, I'm not sure it's worth the price.

Plenty of better products around, with better prices and shipping options (advocare products only uses FedEx for delivery).

Regarding pre-workout, I have an interesting tale....A FF buddy of mine is in great shape; bodybuilder, flexible, can run/jump/be athletic, and his in his mid 20s. He was working OT, and took some C4 before some cardio. 30mins after taking, he started feeling shaky, but more than usual post-supplementing. His heart rate was 165 and he couldn't do anything to get it down! He wound up getting transported, ended up being ok, but now he has sworn off all pre-workout supps. I save them for 1RM days, if at all; however, mofos who take that shit every day are crazy as fuck. Some dudes will just take a scoop dry and put it in their mouths-fucking psychos.
