So far early this season only seeing the end of game I can not anything about his play. However Delly is a way better defender in the Clutch and is really one of those glad we got that guy kind of cases. He adds more on Defense that we lack big time. I think Waiters will see more time early in games and Delly will close out games until they find what they are over all. Dion no longer can get away with what he used to. If and I hope he does get it right he will be a fine player and I hope this is the case.

Delly got torched by Hinrich and he doesn't have a chance against guys like Rose. Love Delly but he's got limitations on defense.

Every player on this team is going to have an adjustment period. Even LeBron, Miller, and Marion who have all been in this league for 10+ years each. Is it any surprise that there will be some ups and downs with a 3rd year player, on his third coaching staff, with 10 new teammates, new coaches, new role, etc? Especially one who has already had a few bumps in the road prior to this season. Why should that surprise or disappoint anyone.

It's fine to point out where he can do better or how he played in an individual game but with Tristan and Dion especially we should not be grading them out against where we would like them to be ultimately be as players, but by their progress. Progress is not measured in 1-2 game increments. Its measured a weeks at a time or in some cases months at a time. Macro/gradual analysis not micro analysis is what we need here when measuring the long term(both season and career) fit and grade for Dion.

I must have not seen this or was to over wound from work. He seemed to be doing and knew where to be at times from what little I seen. I did see the team as a whole play some great defense in overtime though and it was real nice to see.

Hinrich ripped him for something like 8 straight points and he got called out by both Jackson and Van Gundy. That's basically how the Bulls got back into the game and pushed out to a lead near the end of the 4th. We were kind of cruising to a close but easy win before that happened.

Blatt did try Marion on Rose which I thought was interesting but I would like to see Dion put on the guy with the hot hand like Rose in the future. Like I said Rose is just way too explosive for a guy like Delly and Dion looks like the one guy on the team with both the physical tools and the flashes to be a stopper type. He's looked solid on the one on one defense stuff so far this year but we need to see if he can really do it against the best. Otherwise, this team will have to make a move for an Avery Bradley type who can really go after opposing guards on defense

Must be the first loss Cavs ever where there has been no activity in the Dion thread. :chuckle:

I thought he looked very solid on defense about 75% of the time. He didn't let Melo light him up in the post, and he contested some other shots by Smith and others, some of which just were tough and went in. He forced at least one 24-second violation. Some of the time he coasts on defense -- not fighting as hard as he can through screens, letting his man get the wrong position, not boxing out (like a lot of other Cavs tonight). But he seemed to have a defensive focus out there, which was good to see. He had at least one bad sequence (fouling the 3-point shooter, not hustling), but he seemed to be less up-and-down defensively than last year, where you could see terrible plays where you knew Brown would yank him. I think he got pulled early once by Blatt but otherwise was trusted. If he can not get abused by SFs in the post, he's going to see extra time until Miller and Marion start contributing something.

Yes, that 3-on-1 break was a complete disaster. Even more disappointing was the open-3 he drained when LeBron got called for the offensive foul. I think they were down 7 at the time. I don't think he knows where to be on offense yet and was deferring. On the plus side, he didn't seem to be holding the ball and messing up possessions. Just not as aggressive off-the-ball and with-the-ball as he could be.
When you're not giving someone a vacation, you're offering some serious insight, thank you.

He was terrible on D out there. He made Hinrich look like Jordan out there at the end. I think hes quite overrated on defense from what Ive seen so far in pre season and the first couple games. He gives good effort but hes just not quick enuff to stay in front of most starting caliber pgs. I think if dion is already in the dog house then marion is going to need to play a lot more minutes. Otherwise forsure we will need another d oriented guard

I just want Dion to hit open jumpers. I know everyone has their bad days but Dion has missed plenty in the first two games already.

Starting to revisit Dion for Mozgov in my head....

Everything going well

Not having to see him in money time is great in my opinion I

But like I said I'm ready for the excuses about the sun getting into his eyes or not wearing the right shoe sizes to defend by his homers

According to my man Tornicade, the entire team, coaching staff and refs are holding Dion back from reaching superstar status.
What are you talking about i clearly said that Dion got pulled because of messing with a ref and it was a good thing.

As far as the criticism i was referring to the fans overall and general who treat dion like a failed superstar and then admonish him for not being talented.

Dion didnt take nearly as many bad shots as Kyrie Lebron and Love last night, and played better defense to boot.

Cant lose your cool and yell at the refs, even if you were fouled

I like Dion, but think he is redundant in the starting 5. I think he needs to embrace either the 3D role or the 6th man role. We will want his irrational confidence at some point during the playoffs. I don't think pressure gets to him.

yes because if he was a 6th man he would of never got yanked for the ref thing.oh wait yes he would have. I like Thompson as the 6th man with Delly and Marion all sharing the court with 1 or 2 starters.

I dont think trading to fill a hole and making a much larger hole in the process is a smart idea. At least we have Andy and TT who can play above average at center, do you really want to face the Bulls in the playoffs with Kyrie or Delly trying to guard Rose full time?
