Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

At one point in the video I posted
he hits 7 3's in a row

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

Waiters ball pressure was so good boheim gave waiters the green light to gamble. He was very effective in that role. His steals will translate to the nba. The critisism of his steals falls into the category of whether waiters can play within a team concept. I think he also has that question on offense. He's very effective one on one. But the nba is a 5 man game.

Kyrie doesn't project as a great defender, so waiters can take the better of the point guard or shooting guard and leave irving the easy assignment.

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

Ok things I like... Has the Attitude and moves and shot like wade. To be honest If you put him In a heat uniform and I did not know I would think It was wade for a second He has the potential to have the Wade build and skill set. He Is better than Stucky however as W&G mentioned he could be just that a every score he makes he could give u up. However He Is with a coach who gets his team In shape and Is known to make a difference In players so fixing that will be up to Scott and he got a project here with Waiters. For me looks and names often are big to me and his look and name Point to Star player eventually. He has potential to be the next Westbrook type of pick and Again he Is the Andre Drummond of SG's

weakness Is he seems overconfident and snobby at times, He lacks something In his game... I think It had to do with his issues with his coach. I think knowing he will come In and be a possible and eventual starter will make me him motivated like never before. I think his weakness can become strengths. His biggest weakness Is defense we know that. However He can give it his all when motivated... Basically we missed out on Ray Allen 1.0 for the hopes of shades of wade. Basically Grant swung for the fences to get their guy.

Needs motivation a good culture and good team mates and a coach who cares and he can become great. I am so so on this however I see potential yet I see... well you know. My true feeling hate the pick at 4, I would have taken Robinson but Oh well I might be eating my words In two years.

I have read about the issues with his coach. Which makes this quote all the more telling to me.

“He’s more ready for the NBA than any other guard I’ve ever had,” Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said of the 6-foot-4, 215 pound Waiters on Tuesday. “Nobody will be able to guard him one on one unless their last name is Westbrook."

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

We already know of your opinion on the matter, so obviously you're going to respond like that. Wouldn't you actually prefer a future 10-15th selection in 2013 or 2014 rather than a second round pick in 2017?

Tsk. Sometimes, you just gotta learn it the hard way.

Well, I'm still cautious about this selection. Sounds like a good one if the head brass REALLY like him, but we'll see.

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

can someone please post the damn advanced metrics we keep hearing about, jesus h irving

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

I have no scientific data to prove this but I believe there is a direct correlation between skill and dunkface and this kid has a great dunk face

Very Interesting no doubt he was playing a Harden role On that team. I think He was needed In the second Unit for that team to compete and maybe Waiters had Issues with it. If anything with Kyrie and Waiters will be a unique Back court for sure.

And do what with it? It's worthless now. NBA is NBA and NCAA is NCAA. Anyways, if it makes you feel better, HERE.

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

It is also worth noting that the almighty Jerry West said this before the draft.

"I would not at all be surprised if waiters was the second best player in this draft class"

An inside source at Syracuse intimated that Waiters was easily the best player on that dominant team and sacrificed his role for the better of the team.

The way I read your post it almost sounded like you were happy we passed on Robinson so the Kings could get him and become good (leading to us getting Kings pick). I hope you didn't mean in that way... but that is how I read it at first, which lead to me SMH.

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

Double post. RCF what is up with this? Keeps happening to me.

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

for anyone that wants to look at his advanced metrics, they are pretty impressive. His PER is second only to Davis (though its a huge fucking margin) and beats out mkg and beal by a small margin generally in most stats (ortg, drtg, ASSISTS, ts% is close). Honestly he looks right in the mix wtih those dudes. Doron lamb also put up incredible fucking numbers except he looks like a liability on defense. not that it matters

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

Im going to hold my judgement on Waiters until i see him play as i don't know enough about him to hate or like the pick. But were we the team that offered Waiters the Promise??sorry if its been posted before

Nope. It was just coincidence. It didn't occur until I saw W&G's post. Think "Look-on-the-bright-side" of things. Doesn't matter to me. I don't judge drafting like that anyways.
