The problem is that the premise of your argument is wrong. Gilbert was responsible for the Bynum signing. Our insiders have confirmed that time and again.

Oh. My apologies to the board and to Rich. Sincerely. I um.. had a few during the game and misread Rich's post. I'm going to slowly back away from the keyboard for the evening.

Gilbert forcing Bynum on the team like that won't help him reel in a new GM.

Thats why he'll give the job to griffin, so he can wade in when he feels impatient.

Back to dion, he played great. Although his shot selection is bad sometimes the fact that he can generate shots he can make is so valuable. He really bailed the cavs out at the start of the 4th and killed any pacers momentum

Grant wasnt fired for his roster building. he was fired for his roster managing.

Meddling with Scott, Meddling with Brown, Meddling with the players. it all backfired on him when it came to running a tight ship. with the people who came to the organization once they got here.

Grant was a salesman not a manager.

his cloak and dagger shenanigans and quietly using the media to serve his agenda (scotts ousting) didnt sit well people (or maybe it was Gilbert since gilbert did the same thing to Grant before his ouster) but either way and there was a lack of trust. his player meetings and trips with the team only reinforced this to the ownership and organization.

regardless Grant put Dion on the trade block which would of been the horrible move Cleveland hasnt seen from a gm since the day they traded Ron Harper.

Grant had several oppurtunities to fix that locker room and the coaching structure of the team. he failed to do both.

Thats why Dion is still here and Grant is not. even Dion at 22 understand the human element to success and that there is more to it than x's and o's

It is funny how nearly every one of us, myself included, thought that the Bynum signing was a 'no lose situation'.. except it wasn't, because he was such an utter and complete cancer. And I think it was SUCH a poor decision it certainly contributed to Grant being fired.

Here's what i said about Bynum before and right after the signing...

Neither. Both are VERY damaged goods. Both would be terrible influences around the young players. I'll be surprised if either plays another 100 games in their career.

I'm trying very hard, but I can't get myself to be even mildly excited about this signing...sorry. Feels like a signing for the fans. I just don't see him being any sort of factor this year. I think they would have been much wiser being patient

I think ownership considered it a bit of a sexy move that would create hype for an impatient fanbase. I just think it was a deviation from the plan. We saved up all these picks and cap space to create opportunities as a trading partner. We were finally there! Teams were calling us. So, yeah, I'm disappointed. I think the odds of Bynum being on the roster after Jan 10th is 5% or less. I pray he's gone because of a trade. I fear that opportunities may be missed in the next few weeks/months because of this move for a guy that has almost no chance of contributing. I'd rather have the cap space right now.

5 days before free agency David Lee claims Bynum's rehab is over...yeah, ok.
He will not work out for any teams....really?
Teams are not allowed to take MRI's of his knees...huh, why not?
We are the only team in the NBA to actually make this "Top 3 Center" an offer...this signing is somehow a huge win???

Back on topic...nice job Dion. Keep it going. :)

There's a whole lot of wrong in that post right there. Ownership's meddling is what backfired on this season...Grant was the fall guy.

Dion has 29.3 mpg on the season with averages of 15.4 ppg, 3.0 apg, 2.9 rpg, and 0.9 spg.

If he was playing around 38 mpg, which I believe he should starting next season, those averages bump up to 20 ppg, 3.9 apg, 3,8 rpg, and 1.1 spg.

There are only 5 players in the NBA who are averaging 38 mins or more this year, I think the ideal number of minutes would be in the 34 - 36 range. Hopefully, the team does take the next step and improve, as it would allow Dion to play in the 38-40 min range in the bigger games, then with some blow outs he could drop to the low 30's.

There is nothing more irritating to me in fandom, than when fans project these thought processes and personalities on their front office and talk about them as if they have any insight whatsoever.

I don't recommend that anyone take Tony Rizzo seriously, but he just expressed an opinion that the Cavs have to make a choice between Dion and Kyrie...that Dion is playing All-Star basketball without Kyrie, and that the team overall is playing better.

I don't think it's necessarily true, but it shows the impression Dion is making on people.

More significantly, the third guy on the show (not Goldhammer but the one who works the games) claimed to have inside information from team sources that the team plays better with Dion compared to Kyrie because he sticks to the team's game plan better...more under control I suppose.

Take it for what it's worth.

How the fuck would they know what's going on in the Cavs locker room/front office?

I'd bet almost anything they know far less than we do.

This Kyrie/Dion situation really reminds me of Russell/KD. It's like no matter how good, or bad, they play people always try and stir some shit up. What is wrong with people? Some people just love drama I guess...

I think the CAVS would be very stupid to get rid of either KI or Dion. We dumped Ron Harper for no reason other than some stupid rumors and in my mind the franchise never really recovered. Dion is the closest thing to Ron Harper that we have had since he left. Kyrie is a generational type talent that maybe now will listen to some coaching since he can see how good Dion is. In hindsight it is really hard to see why Grant was dumped. I am not sure that the long term outlook for Drummond is all that great. He has no offensive game to speak of and cant stay on the floor in the 4th quarter because he is an historically bad foul shooter. Barnes just stinks. MKG stinks. Beal is good-not clear that he is better than Dion. T think the pick was fine. Morever it is not clear in this rookie class that Bennett was a bad pick. I wonder if Grant would have done the Hawes deal which was an exellent deal.
